Magdalena Roze Shares Her 4-Step Skin Care Routine – And Some Products Are Only $10!

From a 10-year stint on our TV screens to following her food dream from Sydney to Byron Bay, Magdalena Roze has had quite the career journey.

Not many people can say they’ve co-hosted The Project, opened a restaurant and written a cookbook.

But the presenter and journalist has always been passionate about wholefoods and cooking, and after chatting to beautyheaven, her preference for natural and good-for-you ingredients is clear in her beauty routine too.

Here, the NIVEA spokesperson shares her skin care favourites, self-care tips and a refreshing perspective towards getting older.

Magdalena Roze’s skin care routine

Ahead of her 40th birthday, Magdalena says she’s probably more comfortable in her own skin now than she’s ever been before.

“I have off days when I’m tired and puffy or hormonal, but generally I’m quite positive and my skin care focus is on keeping it healthy and protected,” she tells us.

In terms of ingredients, she likes “to use products with as many natural ingredients as possible like vitamin E and jojoba oil, chamomile and aloe vera.”

Here are the products she’s currently using nightly:

Cleanse: NIVEA Naturally Good Micellar Wash Gel

“[The NIVEA Naturally Good Micellar Wash Gel is] such a great cleanser and really effective at removing makeup, sunscreen and impurities. My skin always feels fresh and clean, and I like that it’s made from 99 per cent naturally derived ingredients with no parabens, silicones or mineral oils.”

Serum: Dr Sam’s Flawless Nightly Serum

“I’ll use a serum with vitamin A like the Dr Sam Bunting Nightly Serum.”

Moisturiser: Josh Rosebrook Vital Balm Cream

“[I like to] follow with a rich moisturiser in the evening.”

Body moisturiser: NIVEA Naturally Good Natural Organic Oat & Nourishment Body Lotion

“After my shower, I moisturise my body with the NIVEA Naturally Good Oat & Nourishment Body Lotion, which leaves my skin smooth and hydrated for 24 hrs. It feels especially good after a salty surf or swim! Plus, it comes in a bottle made with 50 per cent less plastic than other NIVEA body lotions so it can be squeezed and rolled up like toothpaste which means you get to use up every last bit.”

Magdalena’s top tips for maintaining confidence into her 40s

Magdalena finds that the life experience and wisdom she’s gained over the years has helped her to maintain her confidence.

“I’ve noticed that my children never, ever notice when I’m puffy, tired or blemished, but they immediately respond to my mood and energy, be it positive or not, and I think it’s a really good reminder that how we ‘look’ and what we project is so much more than just what’s at face value,” she says. “Charisma, humour and positivity are engaging and sexy!”

In terms of self-care, she finds that exercise, good food, rest and water intake also help her to  “feel more confident and contribute to a happy and healthy glow.”

“I find that when I’m doing regular exercise, eating mostly wholesome, unprocessed home-cooked meals and drinking plenty of water it does show in my skin.”

Some of her favourite foods bursting with good fats include avocado, olive oil, nuts and bone broth.

And while we can’t imagine someone with such a fulfilling life would have any regrets, if she could go back and tell her younger self one thing, it would be – “lather on the sunscreen religiously and stay away from the sunbed!”

  1. I do know who she is (I remember her when she used to present on The Weather Channel AU waaaaaay back when!) & have always thought she was pretty. Definitely agree with her re: sunscreen…man oh man I wish I hadn’t have neglected wearing it in my early-mid 20’s!

  2. I haven’t tried the Nivea Naturally Good range yet even though I am a long-term Nivea user. I like the sound of the gel cleanser. I’ll try that 1st because proposes that it effective at removing makeup & sunscreen. It would be nice to skin micellar water on occasions.

  3. I haven’t heard of this lovely lady but she sounds like a stable common sense person . I don’t like sun beds as I think in Oz and NZ we get plenty of natural sun. Magdalena is so right about children – They can sense your inner moods and it is good to feel their vibes when you are being positive and open

  4. I have also come to realise that for my skin, less is better and more. My skin cannot handle products with heaps of ingredients, or lots of products, so cleanser, toner, essence/serum, moisturiser and sunscreen are everything. Add facial oil at night and occasional exfoliator, and it works wonders.
