I’ve done a little bit of beauty maths, you see, and if you break down these so-called expensive products into their cost-per-use, the results aren’t that daunting. For example, La Prairie’s Advanced Marine Biology Revitalising Emulsion for eyes, face and neck – the new hydrating antioxidant whizz kid from its Advanced Marine Biology range – will set you back $180, but it last a whopping three months when used twice a day. And when you’re following the application instructions, it’s only costing you $2 a day. Yes, that’s less than that coffee you’ve already guzzled down, but this moisturising cream is actually going to leave you with glowing skin. Healthy skin. Smooth skin. It’s a solid skin investment, really.
Now, I know not everyone can afford high-end beauty products and other luxurious loot, but it’s actually interesting to sit back, punch some numbers and see how much you’re spending on what, and what’s going to give you long-term benefits. And after reading that La Prairie result, I’m thinking I’ve just found the perfect reason to give up coffee – and then pump the monetary benefits from doing so back into my skin…
