Skinceuticals vs other Vit C serums & Cost vs Efficacy,

Hi Beauties,

I’m keen to try the Skinceuticals Vitamin C E Ferulic serum based on the robust research backing it; however, I can’t justify the cost at present.

I have used The Ordinary products with mixed results and I’ve just commenced using Timeless Beauty Vitamin C 20% serum.

Do you have any favourites that you swear by or are you a Skinceuticals fan?

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

😘

Vitamin C is a powerful natural antioxidant that helps protect the skin from the negative effects of free radicals that attack and damage skin cells. It also participates in collagen synthesis and has certain depigmentation properties (helps combat excessive pigmentation). The SkinCeuticals vitamin C serums are uniquely formulated to achieve excellent results. I recently purchased this medicine from the online store iHerb. It cost me a great deal because with the iherb value60 https://herb-promo.com/en/ I could secure the maximum discount on my product.

On @Ray_jay’s recommendation, I purchased Geek and Gorgeous C-Glow.

It’s a watery texture compared to Timeless and a little goes a long way.

I’m not minding Timeless but I’ve heard that G&G is more effective and it’s much cheaper at $17/30ml

    I’ll do a G&G update in a month.

    Update on Timeless serum:

I keep it refrigerated so I get to appreciate it cold while slowing its oxidation.

It’s quite viscous compared to other serums I’ve used.

I’m detecting the hot dog water smell from the Ferulic acid inclusion.

I am noticing a brightening effect but I’m keen to try Geek and Gorgeous as a point of comparison.

Has anyone considered consuming megadoses of vit C to reap the benefits? I know I most likely pee out the excess but it supposed to help with collagen production.

Vitamin C: everything you need to know

I remember reading in this Bh article:

… At the right pH and the right concentration, vitamin C can penetrate the skin through to the dermal layers. In terms of ingesting antioxidants and specifically vitamin C within fruits, very little actually makes it to the skin, as it is used up by other organs first.

I forget where I heard it but dermatologists studied people whose diets were high in vitamin c, lycopene, balanced Omega 3 and Omega 6 and found that they had markedly less UV damage.

I did find this: D r Ellen Marmur writes in her book ‘Simple Skin Beauty’, “A study published in The Journal of Investigative Dermatology found that vitamin C and E supplements taken for three months significantly reduced sunburns and sun damage.” (2009, p.139).

        It’s all rather fascinating!

Yes I have. I like It. But it’s a bit greasy and runny. But it would be in my top 3be

Have you used it recently? I wonder if they reformulated since you used it. Definitely agree it is runny because consistency is watery, but not greasy at all.

I love the C O S M E D I X Pure C vitamin C mixing crystals, they come in little balls that you mix in with any liquid items in your skincare routine, because it isn’t in liquid form there is no oxidisation issues.

It’s a bit pricey but the small container I had lasted me over a year.
