How much moisturiser should you use?

Not sure how much face cream you should be applying at each use? If you’ve splurged on a luxe serum or face cream you’ll no doubt want your product to last as long as possible – so waste not, want not!
According to the skin care experts at La Mer, when it comes to applying face creams and face serums, you only need a pea-sized amount. La Mer also recommends warming the product between your fingertips first, as this helps to activate and release the ingredients in the product. You should then gently pat (not rub) the product into your skin.

Always a pea sized amount of cream morning and night and with my serum two pumps is enough. I have always warmed all products in my palms then patted the product into my skin as that is the method I was taught when I began work as a Clarins consultant 16 years ago and still do to this day. I do get some customers who go through creams so quickly and I ntoice how soon they are back for more so I explain how important that a little goes a long way! I love helping people get the best out of their products. I apply a teaspoon of spf to my face and a tablespoon per limb for optimum protection - I learnt that from a nurse who teaches about sun protection. And my creams last me between 3 and 6 months.

I have to agree with this. I have a Philosophy moisturiser that I'm using at the moment and I only need the smallest amount to moisturise my whole face. I'd like to know though if the same would apply to SPF moisturiser?

I've never had a 50ml tub of night cream last longer than a month. I guess I'm using too much....

I only ever use a pea sized amount and always pat my products in as I've been told that if you rub it in you stimulate the oil glands (and who wants more oil on their face..). My creams last soo long I've lost track of when I actually got them, well over 9 months anyway.

Wow, then I use quite a lot of moisturiser on my face; i dont use serums as I am still quite young. It usually takes 1-2 months for my bottle to run out which is not soo good. Im goin to start usin moisturisers in a small amount, not much and not too little, just right :) thanks

With pump moisturisers like Clinique, it's usually enough with one pump and I'll easily use that up. With tubes, I try to estimate the same amount as a pump, so just a little less than pea size is usually adequate for me. Depending on the size I buy, moisturiser usually lasts me a good 3 - 4 months! Which is great!
