If you’re into beauty tech, you’ll no doubt be clued up on the benefits of LED masks. But what about light therapy wands? Turns out this nifty type of tool is used by many celebrities before red carpet events to amp up their glow.
In fact, Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon and Mandy Moore have all used the same one: the SolaWave 4-in-1 Facial Wand ($165 at Amazon AU).
Reese’s makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan used the tool to prep the actress’ skin before the 2022 SAG Awards and Nicole Kidman’s makeup artist named it as an important prep step in an interview with The Zoe Report.
So what makes this light therapy wand so great? We investigate…
How do light therapy wands work?
While blue light can be used for treating acne, this particular light therapy wand uses red light to stimulate collagen production and reduce wrinkles. Yes, please.
Unlike LED masks that are simply worn for a few minutes, it also has microcurrent, facial massage, and therapeutic warming modes, to complete its 4-in-1 functionality.
The benefit of most wands over a mask is that they not only treat the signs of ageing long-term, but they can provide an instant lifted effect through other in-built modes.
Every wand is different and will come with its own instructions, but in general, most are used by gliding across the skin in an upwards and outwards motion.
If you ask us, scoring a microcurrent and LED tool in one is a pretty good deal.

Have you ever tried an LED or microcurrent device? Would you be keen to try a light therapy wand?
It’s great they’re incorporating more things into one product so you don’t have to have multiple devices
I would try them out if they weren’t so expensive!
Perfectly said, @Miss19
Same here – the prices rule me out.
Not fair is it!!
So many new things to try.
These kinds of Devices are all so very Expensive, but they certainly would be worthy investment for, so that they increase Collagen in your Face.
Totally agree, I guess if you are paying for regular treatments it could be worth investing in one of these if they work just as well…
Yes, good quality red led does seem to work (in my case on inflammation within the tissue, healing sped up like crazy!). Want omnilux (half price pleeez)
Wow these cost so much. Would it not be worth it to rather go to a professional who knows what they are doing?
I would love to try an Omnilux mask. Been eyeing them off since I saw them pop up on Bh just the other day.
Certainly some intersting devices
They look interesting but expensive.
Yes that is the trouble -I would love to try one of these so might have to start saving
Not tried any of these device, would go for a wand but not a priority at the moment.
I want to try the omnilux andthe Nuskin one!
Interesting concept.
I would love to try the micro current devices, but they are expensive. I wonder if you have to keep using them to maintain results because I do tend to slack off after a while.
I would love to have one of these -I have not tried one before but the wand definitely appeals and would be much easier ti use that a mask
Definitely luxurious, way over my budget.
Sounds very interesting – I would love to try it.
Same the price is a turn off. I already have an IPL machine I rarely use.
Good to read but the expense rules them out for me.
Sounds amazing
It sounds interesting, but is pricey.
Expensive, but I still wouldn’t mind owning one.
Interesting but not sure it’s for me. Trials? 🙂
Sign me up!!
Her hair is so amazing!
The Omnilux mask is the only device worth getting on this list but hoy is the price steep!
You might be luck and win one Lucy
Would love to win the Omnilux contour competition beauty heaven has on atm
I don’t know about these. They seem vaguely magical to me.
Most are expensive
I like the idea of a wand for targeted treatment.
Would love to have one of these but my bank balance says no lol
I have a really old galvanic machine and a micro current machine, but I would love to upgrade them.
I would love the wand to try -not so keen on the masque idea. I would love to try one first as there seem to be so many and different prices so I would not know what the differences are.
Ooo this looks so fancy!
Never heard of this before but I’m honestly keen to do some more research!
I have had countless professional LightStim treatments-brilliant!! Would love a at home great quality LED treatment, the Omnilux is calling me 😀
I wonder how long you have to use the LED treatment devices before you see results.
No.I would love to try.
Id want to see results before I forked out that money. Does. sound nice to be able to do it all from home regularly.
Reese looks gorgeous. I love her movies too. I bet she can afford all these products without the need to turn over any price tag.
I agree Simonja. Love Reese. Would be good not to worry about the expense though.
Do these masks really work?
Great products here
Gosh Reese looks as young as her daughter Ava!
I don’t mind the sound of the first one mentioned in the article, but I’d have to be 1000% sure the others worked to even order one.
yes that is how I feel too
I was really keen to purchase SolaWave 4-in-1 Facial Wand after reading this article but when I googled reviews there have been a lot of dissatisfaction with this product so I am nervous to buy
I have an LED mask that I use. The key is making time to use these devices regularly.
So expensive plus Nicole has had a lot of ‘help’ to maintain those looks
I’ve had luck with in clinic LED before, love the results but haven’t tried any at home versions. I worry about the safety aspect vs results.
I’ve also steered clear of the micro current devices as there doesn’t seem to be strong research backing up their claims.
Interesting article, unfortunately way out of my budget.
I think this would be good for my acne.
