Kerry Washington is making waves in the beauty industry after co-hosting the first ever ‘Heroes of Skin Health Equity’ initiative, alongside friend and fellow Neutrogena ambassador, Jen Garner. Headed up by Neutrogena, this first-of-its-kind program is seeking to bridge the gap in skin health inequality.
We’ve seen it in the misdiagnosis of rosacea, and now, speaking to People’s Every Day podcast, Kerry called out the problematic ‘one size fits all’ mentality when it comes to skin care.
“Everyone has such unique skin and there are unique challenges in the Black and brown community; the way the skin hyperpigments, the way that eczema impacts our skin because of the melanin and the way ageing happens in Black and brown skin,” she explained.
So what exactly do these “heroes of skin health equity” look like? According to Kerry during the TikTok-streamed event: “We’re really acknowledging, affirming, and uplifting educators, influencers, and innovators who are working towards skin health.”
“Whether they’re doctors, tech innovators, or filmmakers, all of these people are really working to help create an even ground so that folks with Black and brown skin can have access to healthy skin,” she continued.
After experiencing “dry skin [her] whole life,” which included a long-standing battle with eczema, skin health has become a priority for Kerry. Having described herself as “obsessed” with hyaluronic acid, Kerry (alongside her entire family) have taken a liking to Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost range including the Water Gel. “Everybody was taking my Hydro Boost. I would notice it in my teenager’s room and notice it in my seven-year-old’s room and notice it in my husband’s side of the bathroom,” she said.
Luckily for her, as an ambassador to the skin care brand, we’re sure she’s got plenty to go round.

Have you tried it? Here’s what some of our members have to say about this moisturiser…
“Absolutely awesome facial moisturizer. It is gel-based, it smells fantastic, it feels fantastic, it absorbs quickly into my skin and leaves it feeling super hydrated. It doesn’t make my skin oily/oilier, which is extremely important to me in a facial moisturizer!” – HDEE
“This moisturiser is the lightest feeling one I’ve ever used. It hydrates & plumps my skin & absorbs quickly, leaving my skin soft to the touch. I don’t experience any pilling when I apply my sunscreen.” – Misfortunat8
What’s your go-to daily moisturiser at the moment?
This cream sound like it is for me 🙂 might have to give it a try
I need to try this.
I’m just using a vitamin C serum at the moment which I really like
My current day moisturiser is the Elizabeth Arden Perpetual Moisture lotion and for night I’m using Sensori+ 18hr Cloud Cream.
both sound nice
Not happy with what I’m using at the moment so this might be next.
It sounds really nice.
Neutrogena has some great products that’s for sure
Yes and this ine is priced well too
Oh, if this works, why not.
I love the Hydro Boost gel!
I tried the Hydro Boost cream gel a couple of times. It was just ok. I’m using the moisturisers I recently redeemed my points for in the beauty room.
I’m surprised she’s got a teenager – she’s got great skin!
I like the sound of this -I have been using Nivea firming moisturizer however always like to try newproducts
Sounds really good that Kerry Washington’s Family were using the Product as well, good thing that she is an Ambassador for Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream.
atm loving Murad hydro one, it is faaaaab!
My comment censored. Can not mention a brand name?
It sounds like that you have received a notice that says: “Your comment is awaiting moderation”. I’ve also been receiving this a lot, and I think other members have too. Maybe beautyheaven’s new spam fighting measures think that we’re spammers when we post lots of comments.
Beautiful woman.
I love her but she is the brand ambassador for Neutrogena. This is a very basic cream. I used to use this.
Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair range is one of my favourites but at present I’m using John Plunkett’s De Pigment Moisturiser during the day which I really like.
Sounds lovely, maybe I should purchase it next time I’m in need of moisturiser
I haven’t tried this specifically, but I like Neutrogena products in general.
I didn’t find that Neutrogena one particularly hydrating, actually, compared to other hyaluronic acid products I’ve used.
No idea who she is and it’s a chemist or pharmacy in Australia, not a drugstore.
The word “drugstore” is used by lots of Australian YouTubers; perhaps so that they appeal to their overseas viewers. Whatever the reason is, I just wish that they would say “chemist” or “pharmacy”.
Looks lovely for this hot weather
the hydroboost range is good!
I love Kerry!
Jennifer Garner looks amazing!
at the moment I’m using CeraVe facial moisturiser that I claimed from the rewards room, and so far I love it.
Affordable too
Hmmm… Was she paid to say this??? Just curious….
I am currently using blessed by nature moisturiser. Definitely will look for this one next time.
Always happy to listen to suggestions and try products I haven’t used before, especially when the price is affordable.
Hyaluronic acid can be a problematic ingredient for me, so I try to stay away from products that contain it as much as possible.
Sounds good
I really like this cream even with my oily skin. It’s so good in winter cause it doesn’t break you out. Just hydrates
I haven’t tried this product, but it sounds good. I need something like this for my dry, eczema prone skin.
