Kerry Washington Shares This Drugstore Beauty Product With Her Husband

Kerry Washington is making waves in the beauty industry after co-hosting the first ever ‘Heroes of Skin Health Equity’ initiative, alongside friend and fellow Neutrogena ambassador, Jen Garner. Headed up by Neutrogena, this first-of-its-kind program is seeking to bridge the gap in skin health inequality.

We’ve seen it in the misdiagnosis of rosacea, and now, speaking to People’s Every Day podcast, Kerry called out the problematic ‘one size fits all’ mentality when it comes to skin care.

“Everyone has such unique skin and there are unique challenges in the Black and brown community; the way the skin hyperpigments, the way that eczema impacts our skin because of the melanin and the way ageing happens in Black and brown skin,” she explained.

So what exactly do these “heroes of skin health equity” look like? According to Kerry during the TikTok-streamed event: “We’re really acknowledging, affirming, and uplifting educators, influencers, and innovators who are working towards skin health.”

“Whether they’re doctors, tech innovators, or filmmakers, all of these people are really working to help create an even ground so that folks with Black and brown skin can have access to healthy skin,” she continued.

After experiencing “dry skin [her] whole life,” which included a long-standing battle with eczema, skin health has become a priority for Kerry. Having described herself as “obsessed” with hyaluronic acid, Kerry (alongside her entire family) have taken a liking to Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost range including the Water Gel. “Everybody was taking my Hydro Boost. I would notice it in my teenager’s room and notice it in my seven-year-old’s room and notice it in my husband’s side of the bathroom,” she said.

Luckily for her, as an ambassador to the skin care brand, we’re sure she’s got plenty to go round.

“Absolutely awesome facial moisturizer. It is gel-based, it smells fantastic, it feels fantastic, it absorbs quickly into my skin and leaves it feeling super hydrated. It doesn’t make my skin oily/oilier, which is extremely important to me in a facial moisturizer!” – HDEE

“This moisturiser is the lightest feeling one I’ve ever used. It hydrates & plumps my skin & absorbs quickly, leaving my skin soft to the touch. I don’t experience any pilling when I apply my sunscreen.” – Misfortunat8

    • It sounds like that you have received a notice that says: “Your comment is awaiting moderation”. I’ve also been receiving this a lot, and I think other members have too. Maybe beautyheaven’s new spam fighting measures think that we’re spammers when we post lots of comments.

    • The word “drugstore” is used by lots of Australian YouTubers; perhaps so that they appeal to their overseas viewers. Whatever the reason is, I just wish that they would say “chemist” or “pharmacy”.
