J.Lo’s makeup-free morning selfie has us rethinking the way we sleep

Jennifer Lopez is an icon. Not only has she released some of the best films ever made (Monster In Law, Maid In Manhattan – both cinematic genius), survived the breakdown of ‘Bennifer’,  produced hit song after hit song AND absolutely crushed the half-time show at the SuperBowl, but she looked (and continues to look) damn good doing it.

Yep, amongst all the highs and lows, one thing remains a constant. JLo’s wrinkle-free, glowing and borderline flawless complexion.

And just in case we needed reminding just how beautiful she was, the 51-year-old recently blessed her 127 million Instagram followers with a no-makeup selfie.

Captioned, “Good morning everyone!!! #MorningFace“, J-Lo gives us a glimpse at how her days in isolation begin, out in her garden, dressed in a monogrammed white robe, with perfectly wind swept hair.

While J-Lo isn’t serving up a fresh brew of her morning ageless tonic, she has been known to reveal a tip or two on how she keeps her self looking so damn youthful.

Speaking to InStyle, she attributes her complexion to keeping her diet free of three things in particular, “I don’t drink, smoke, or have caffeine. That really wrecks your skin as you get older”.

But if giving up your coffee is too big a sacrifice, her second suggestion might be of interest. “The number one tip is to always get enough sleep. I can’t stress this enough. Ideally I would love to get nine or 10 hours of sleep, but either way, I always make sure I get at least eight.”

And last but not least, we have Khloe Kardashian to thank for our third and final tip. Speaking to ET, Khloe spills the tea on all the beauty tips she’s learnt from Jennifer, including how she sleeps.

“When there are lines on the side of your neck, it’s from side sleeping.” she says. And according to Khloe, J-Lo sleeps “surrounded by pillows” in order to avoid rolling over and creasing her neck and face.

This sleeping position has also been recommended by dermatologists for years – in a bid to reduce fine lines and decrease inflammation while sleeping.

  1. I have always slept surrounded by pillows, ever since I was a kid. It’s more of a comfort thing really. But a good nights sleep would be great if I could turn my brain off hahaha

  2. I’m more comfortable sleeping in the fetal position and I sleep for around 9 hours every night but I don’t wake up looking like J-Lo. I start my day with a nice strong latte.

  3. If I didn’t know that this article was about Jennifer Lopez, I may not even have recognised her in the photo where she’s wearing no makeup in her dressing gown.

  4. I have been trying to learn to backsleep since the start of the year (I had to after my appendectomy in February anyway, but wasn’t able to stick with it) – honestly the biggest issue in getting it fully down is the fact that I share my queen bed with a partner. I can’t use pillows to keep myself on my back without him running out of room in the bed, and yet pillows are the best way to learn backsleeping. Very frustrating!

  5. I’d love to sleep on my back but I just find it way too uncomfortable, I know its the best for your health in so many ways but I can’t resist crawling up into a little ball on my side!
