How Jennifer Garner looks so good at 48

Celebrities are notorious for choosing the cosmetic surgery route when it comes to ageing. And so it’s incredibly refreshing when we come across one who chooses to gracefully, without going under the knife.

Jennifer Garner may be 48, but that number is irrelevant because what actually matters is that she looks gorgeous, healthy and happy. And really, what more could you want?

That’s not to say the actress doesn’t look after herself (and her skin), though. We all know a complexion like that doesn’t come from sleeping in makeup and drinking coffee instead of water.

Instead, the mum-of-three cares for her face and body with some tips we can all learn from…

She’s all for sun protection

Ask anyone over the age of 30 what skin care lesson they wish they’d known sooner, and most will say staying out of the sun.

Lucky for Jennifer, she was too busy for tanning as a teen. “When my friends were all in West Virginia lying out with baby oil all over their face and bodies, I was in the theatre,” she told Prevention.com

“They used to call me Casper. I was embarrassed and would think I’ve got to get a tan, but it saved years off my life, and certainly off of my face.”

She’s an avid retinol user

If there’s one ingredient Jennifer credits for her youthful complexion, it’s retinol. And while she’s been using it for years, it’s never too late to start.

In fact, Neutrogena’s Rapid Wrinkle Repair® Regenerating Cream works so quickly, you can see visible results in as little as a week. Pair it with the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair® Retinol Oil (one of Jennifer’s favourites) and you’ll have twice the wrinkle-fighting power. “This oil is hydrating, it’s gentle, you can use it every night and it changes your skin,” she told womansday.com

Retinol is one of the most scientifically-researched and proven ingredients in skin care and Neutrogena’s formula utilises Accelerated Retinol SA and Retinol SA, to deliver speedy and glowing results. Hey, if it’s good enough for Jen, we’re in.

She prioritises sleep

Just like our other icon J.Lo, Jennifer (Garner, not Lopez) likes to make sure she gets some decent shuteye. After all it’s called ‘tired and haggard’ for a reason.

“You feel awake if you get some sleep,” she told Prevention.com. In fact, Jennifer starts preparing herself for bed as soon as she puts her kids in theirs.

She works out and eats well most days

While her Instagram may be full of cinnamon scrolls and cookie-baking efforts, Jennifer lives a very healthy and balanced lifestyle (with the aforementioned treats every now and then too of course)

She likes to work out most days in the mornings and generally follows her trainer’s Body By Simone programme, which involves a mix of strength training and cardio.

And if you thought having a salad for lunch every day was ‘boring’, take solace in the fact Jennifer does it too. “ I know I’m going to have a big salad every day with some protein on it and lots of good fats, like nuts, cheese, and avocado with tons of veggies chopped up on there,” she told  Prevention.com.

Lastly, she aims to be done eating by 7:30pm. And to be honest, if that means an earlier bedtime, we’re all for it too.

  1. She seems to have a lot of forehead wrinkles for someone who uses retinol. I’m 56 and I don’t have deep forehead lines like that, or any other deep wrinkles for that matter. I saw a TV commercial for this retinol serum the other day and I was thinking if that is the result you get using it then I probably wouldn’t see a difference at all.

  2. 48 and looking great!
Ya. Retinol (have used that duo from Neutrogena and omg it is so good!), acids, whole food plant based diet (fruit loaded obviously) and SPF. Wish I’ve started sunscreen and skincare in general earlier (than my late 30s). Ah well….all fab anyways.

  3. I am in some ways thankful that I have been sun safe most of my adult life. I have been using SPF30 since I was in my late teens. I now worry that perhaps I haven’t had enough Vitamin D for my bones.
I have use these Neutrogena products & I do say that a terrific however I like to try lots of different products.

  4. She is gorgeous, though she probably has some advantages that the rest of us don’t necessarily have, in terms of time, money and help with the kids. But it is nice to see someone who looks healthy and glowing but their actual age.

  5. She has aged well and looks more than 10 years younger s than her age. If she’s had any work done it’s very subtle and not obvious. A healthy lifestyle will be kinder to you. I make sleep a priority too. I was a really poor sleeper and it’s only in the last 6 months or more I’ve been sleeping more restful. I believe that stress was an attributed to this.

  6. I have been using an spf on my face for more than 40 years. Way back when the strongest one I could find was spf 6. There was literally nothing stronger. I am living proof it does work. I am 56 and have far less lines on my face than Jennifer Garner has….just saying. These days of course it is very easy to find much stronger spf products that are comfortable and not thick.
