It was acceptable in the 80s…

On Tuesday, we were treated to, well, a different kind of product launch. The Body Shop invited the beauty media to a special event to celebrate the return of its infamous body washes. I have, on good authority, the ruling that they were somewhat of a hit back in the 80s (I can’t personally remember as chances are I was still in pull-ups).

When the invite came, we were asked to vote on one of five 80s flicks that we’d like to see – including The Goonies, Back to the Future Part II, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Stand By Me. The winning film would be screened at the launch and until that moment we’d be none the wiser. My pick was Ferris Bueller – you can’t go past a great comedy I say.

So as I arrived at the cinema, I was a little more than excited to see all of my favourite film food ready and raring to be scoffed by the ‘beauty bunch’. [Note: many a choc top was harmed in the making of this event.]

As we eagerly took our seats and the screen came on, it become obvious that The Goonies had taken the majority of the votes: I was soo captivated in the hunt for the long-lost treasure!

Don’t get me wrong, the movie was fun but the real thrill was seeing that the scrumptious body washes from The Original’s collection are back – and bigger than ever. Fuzzy Peach is my favourite, but you know I’ll just have to try them all – hey, it’s in the job description! Be sure to watch out for these gems on counter 15 February 2010.

What is your favourite beauty blast from the past? (I’d love to hear your fave 80s flick too!)
