If looks could kill…

Sometimes, just sometimes, it’s good to be bad. Now, as a former Brownie Guide and self-confessed good girl, it’s not often that I’d admit that. But casting my mind back to some of the more glamorous of villains in film – I’d say these bad girls actually have it pretty good…

In her infamous two-toned hair glory (could this be where balayage began?), Cruella Deville (played by Glenn Close), had us cuddling up to our pooches in terror – and seriously re-thinking any previous fur fixations, as she searched high and low for the puppies that would make her a new coat (all the while looking rather brooding and glamorous, I might add).

Then we have the brutal beauties from the Batman films; slinky, latex-clad Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, and fiery, red head Poison Ivy (played by Uma Thurman) – both equally terrific as they are terrifying. I found myself coveting Thurman’s long, copper locks and matching pout, while simultaneously practicing a winged eyeliner look that would surely make Pfeiffer proud.

Now, I know mimicking make-up styles probably wasn’t the desired reaction for the directors of these films – but hey, can we help it if some of the most evil enchantresses in history do gorgeous better than gruesome?

Who is your favourite villain of all time?
