9 gel-based skin care products you need

If I had to name the most underrated skin and body care offering, it would be products with a gel formula.

Let’s just take a second to think about their benefits.

Firstly, they’re fast absorbing.

Secondly, you can stow them in the fridge.

Thirdly, some gel products are just as hydrating as thick cream formulas (minus the greasy finish).

Fourthly (is that a word?), they’re not just suited to oily skin types – these days, many are formulated for sensitive skin.

And fifthly (yes, I went there), the texture of gel products is just so darn fun.

The bottom line? It would be irresponsible not to #treatyoself to one of these gel gems…

1. Thursday Plantation Aloe Vera Gel

If there’s one product I can’t live without for summer, it’s aloe vera. Whether I’m sunburned, mosquito-bitten, or experiencing a bit of chafing, it helps relieve my stressed-out skin and delivers much-needed hydration. This one’s unscented and suitable for all skin types (yay).

2. The Body Shop Elderflower Cooling Eye Gel

Got tired eyes? This elderflower-infused moisturising gel will sooth and refresh your whole eye area. It’ll also help reduce any puffiness, especially when used cold – so keep it in the fridge for extra puff-fighting power!

3. Palmolive Body Polish – Passionfruit

If you ask me, there’s nothing more rejuvenating in summer than a zesty gel scrub. This one contains real fruit seeds for exfoliation, as well as antioxidants to help revitalise the skin. Can’t get enough? Well, it’s gentle enough to use daily.  #Winning.

4. Natio Wellness Shower & Bath Gel

One of the biggest misconceptions about gel beauty products is that they aren’t hydrating enough. On the contrary, this cleansing shower & bath gel is packed full of moisturising ingredients including sweet almond and nutrient rich pomegranate. You may never want to leave the tub.

5. NIVEA Men Sensitive Shaving Gel

Men with sensitive skin will love this gentle gel, which is enriched with chamomile and vitamin E to help soften beard hair and protect skin from irritation, redness and razor burn. It has ‘hero product’ status for a reason!

6. Quick Fix Mega Moisture Gel Mask

Summer has a way of sapping your skin, but don’t despair: A hydrating gel mask will help treat that dry and thirsty complexion. This one’s been formulated with hyaluronic acid, collagen and vitamin E to plump, lift and tone your skin.

7. Alpha-H Clear Skin Blemish Control Gel

If, like me, you’re prone to the odd blemish, a fast-acting spot gel is a must. Alpha H’s contains anti-bacterial ingredients including oregano, tea tree and eucalyptus to help fight the cause of infection and reduce swelling. Bye-bye, blemish!

8. NEUTROGENA ® HYDRO BOOST™ Water Gel

If you love a light-weight moisturiser but are concerned about dry skin, look no further than this silky gel formula. More than 80 per cent of our Trial Team said it gave their skin long-lasting moisture, so it’s kind of a no-brainer.

9. Sukin Sunless Bronzing Gel

Now that your skincare routine is sorted, it’s time to up your tanning game. This non-greasy bronzing gel is suitable for the face and body, not to mention all skin types. The best part? You can reapply it as needed to build up to your preferred colour (which means it’s oompa loompa-proof)!

Which gel product do you most like the sound of? Do you use any others?
