A savvy Reddit user reveals how they eliminated every single blackhead

Unless you’ve quit your day job and committed to a lifetime of cleansing, masking and exfoliating, there’s a good chance those blackheads you’ve banished are going to make a swift return.

And while there is no denying peeling off a pore strip to reveal all the gunk extracted from our pores is wildly satisfying (and ok, a little gross), the novelty does tend to wear off after a while.

So as we pour money into expensive products, extractions and boujee facial treatments looking for a solution, it seems the latest piece of blackhead-ridding advice hasn’t come from the local salon or high profile facialist, but popular internet platform Reddit instead.

After losing battle after battle against this relentless skin concern, Reddit user Yookfa shared the exact few products that totally banished her blackheads

And with the before-and-after shot no more than a month apart, we’ve already got one foot out the door to purchase her entire routine.

The routine…..

So, to begin, Yookfa removes all her make up with the Lancôme Energie de Vie Cleansing Oil. This is then followed by an exfoliation with Neogen’s gentle Bio-Peel Green Tea Gauze pads ($43 at Myer), which work to effectively remove dead skin and stubborn impurities.

Post-exfoliation, Yookfa goes in for her second cleanse, this time with her “holy grail” Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser

The oil-free foaming cleanser removes any excess debris that may have been missed in the first two steps (yes, you’ve got to be thorough to really kick these pesky blackheads to the curb). “You need less than a pea-sized amount and it doesn’t really lather but it takes makeup off and is super gentle,” she wrote to the forum.

Her next step requires the topical retinoid Differin, which here in Australia actually requires a prescription. So the next best thing? A topical retinol (vitamin A).

A few of our favourites are: SkinCeuticals Retinol 1.0Paula’s Choice 1% Retinol Booster

After she uses Differin, Yookfa goes in with Aquaphor’s Healing Ointment AKA the American version of our beloved Vaseline, the step which she says “works miracles”.

And in the sixth and possible most controversial final step, Yookfa goes in with her toner, Akaran Moisture Lotion after moisturising.

Her reasoning? “My mother’s side is Korean, and I grew up in East Asia, I’ve just been taught from 13 to always moisturise first to lock in the moisture and then tone afterwards because toner is never as moisturising.”

And the result? “I’ve always noticed that my skin was brighter and softer and more supple if I toned last like my mom and grandma always taught me.”

You will find the exact hyaluronic acid-rich toner Yookfa uses on eBay, but if that proves too tricky, we recommend: Minenssey Hydrating Dynamic Facial Essence,

And ok, we get it may not be the case of ‘one and done’, but for results like Yookfa has gotten, we are more than willing to give this 6-step routine a try.

  1. This sounds like an ongoing routine until you reach an age that blackheads no longer appear, or your eyesight gets poorer and you don’t see them!

Using a toner after a moisturiser also does not make sense to me as I would think the toner would remove the moisture applied.
