Discovery bag: A-grade beauty products put to the test

Now I’m not one for affirmations or journeys of discovery, but I do believe finding a new Holy Grail beauty product can be totally life-changing.

So let’s see if our members were treated to some mind-blowing discoveries this month…

Rubifresh Skincare Daily Face Scrub

bh says:

If the colour is not enough to entice you into using this scrub, perhaps the lure of cranberry, mint and shea butter will.

You say:

“This scrub is very different to any scrub that I have come across before. It is thick and creamy, with a soft clay consistency. It is a rich red colour with a fresh minty smell. I applied this to damp skin after removing my make-up, in gentle circular motions. You could definitely feel the scrub but it wasn’t too abrasive. I used a damp face washer to remove. Immediately my skin looked and felt clean and smooth.” – Jess R

“I love the exfoliation particles in this scrub as I have enlarged pores with an occasionally oily t-zone and would scrub my face with sandpaper if it worked. I don’t find this scrub too harsh for my skin and find it perfect for daily use. After using I noticed my pores looked more refined and my skin felt smooth and clean. The only real bummer for me about this scrub is that I just can’t stand the smell, to me it smells like toothpaste.” -MoniqueKerstin

Avon Luxe Couture Crème Lipstick

bh says:

We’re all for multitasking products – the more benefits the better. So the fact that this lipstick provides colour AND a lip plumping effect for fuller lips, you bet we’re on board.

You say:

“The thing that most impressed me about this lipstick was the creaminess. I honestly don’t think I’ve tried a lipstick so silky soft and moisturising before and I’ve tried plenty! It slips onto the lips like a dream and is very highly pigmented. While I wouldn’t say this is a super long-lasting lipstick, it kept its bright colour for around three hours (even surviving my morning coffee) before it started to wear away a little on the inner lip area.” -maydayismyday

“I have slightly sensitive lips and some lipstick formulas make my lips feel extremely dehydrated (I do not mean flaky or chapped lips). When I read that the Avon Luxe Couture Crème Lipsticks contain a natural plumping complex, I was concerned the lipstick could sting my lips due to an irritating ingredient. I’m relieved that the lipstick is comfortable to wear and that it does not dry my lips out.” -Petal

DMK Calerase

bh says:

Sit back, relax and let this treatment sink into your feet to dislodge the build-up of dead skin cells that cause calluses. The result? Silky smooth feet!

You say:

“Don’t let the scent of the cream put you off. It is a little overpowering and the whole application process is rather messy BUT the treatment does work. I probably had the cream on for about 20 minutes for the first application. I wiped [it] away with paper towel and slightly pumiced the area – although [this is] not necessary as the cream really did work wonders on its own. The dry patches around my heels were gone, and the whole area felt a lot more moisturised and supple.” – Erin101

“The process was a bit messy and difficult. I spread the cream onto my feet and wrapped my feet in saran wrap at least several times in order for the cream to really absorb into my skin. Once 20 minutes went by, I washed my feet in the shower, making sure to get all the cream off. I didn’t really notice any changes the first time but after using it three times within the week I noticed the skin on my feet had become softer and a lot smoother than before. It’s not a quick fix but something that works over time!” -MissM19
