The pineapple skincare products that’ll illuminate your face with the light of a million suns

Ask us about the powers of pineapple and we could pretty much present a Ted Talk – if you don’t know, the extracts (which contain a brilliant brightening enzyme called bromelain) are ace for clearing away the dead skin and debris getting in the way of your glow (good riddance!) to make way for the fresh layer underneath, while also taking that exact layer from relatively radiant to positively gleaming.

So if you’re keen for skin so sparkling you may be confused with Edward from Twilight, or you just want to make your skin care application station smell like paradise, here are the pineapple products we reckon would make fantastic additions to your routine.

Cleanser: Alba Botanica

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Facial Cleanser ($17.35, au.iherb.com)

Kick off your tropical routine with this pore-purifying pineapple cleanser; it washes away makeup, dullness and impurities all while smelling convincingly like a Hawaiian cocktail, an aspect we’re definitely putting in the ‘plus’ column.

Toner: Eco Tan

Eco Tan Super Fruit Toner ($29.95, adorebeauty.com.au)

Follow your cleanser with a spritz of this balancing and brightening toner, packed with glow-boosting pineapple extract, soothing aloe vera juice and hydrating hyaluronic acid.

Exfoliant: Wishful

Wishful Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub ($73, sephora.com.au)

This pineapple-powered enzyme scrub (the brainchild of beauty guru Huda Kattan) just landed in Australia, and it’s the ideal effective skin-smoother for normal, dry, combination and oily skin types (sorry sensitive souls, the physical exfoliants in the formula are soft, but they’re still present).

Serum: Glow Recipe

Glow Recipe Pineapple-C Bright Serum ($78, mecca.com.au)

Got glossy glass skin on your wishlist? Duh, don’t we all? Well, this potent serum may just make it a possibility. A lightweight, bouncy-feeling blend of pineapple juice (which makes up an impressive 22 per cent of the formula), plus two other potent types of vit-C (both stable and pure ascorbic acid), it’s basically brightness in a bottle.

Moisturiser: Marc Jacobs

Marc Jacobs Youthquake Hydra-Full Retexturizing Gel Crème Moisturiser ($78, sephora.com.au)

A luxurious yet lightweight gel cream that pretty much looks, feels and smells like pineapple gelato, this heavenly hydrator is all about offering major moisture and makeup-ready radiance, thanks to its plumping pairing of pineapple enzymes and antioxidant-rich starfruit extract.

Gel Mask: Too Faced

Too Faced Pineapple Glow Moisturising and Brightening Face Mask ($67, mecca.com.au)

If your skin’s looking lacklustre, hit it with this tropical treat for 20 minutes – it teams pineapple extract with glycolic and lactic acids to gently exfoliate and slough off debris, leaving you with a gloriously bright glow akin to the magical post-facial feeling that we’re missing so much right now.

Sheet Mask: Karuna

Karuna Exfoliating Face Mask ($13, mecca.com.au)

If your skin is on the sensitive side, but you’re still keen to get in on the exfoliating action, this sheet mask is a great fit for your face. The formula is still packed with congestion-clearing pineapple extract and salicylic acid, but the dosages are lower and they’re diluted by soothing aloe leaf juice.

Lip Balm: Carmex Pineapple & Mint Lip Balm

Carmex Pineapple & Mint Lip Balm

If you thought pineapple was refreshing on its own, get a layer of this pine-and-mint balm onto your lips pronto. It’ll smell as heavenly as it feels (and  damn, does it feel heavenly).

Body Lotion: Bangn Body

Bangn Body Firming Lotion ($48, bangnbody.com)

Who says your body can’t be brightened too? Get your limbs looking glossy (without feeling greasy) with this firming formula. Rich in shea butter, pineapple fruit oil and green coffee bean extract, it’s able to up your glow factor, reduce scarring and limit bumps all at once.

Supplement: Vida Glow

Vida Glow Pineapple Marine Collagen ($59.95, vidaglow.com)

Tropical? Yes. Topical? No. This collagen supplement harnesses the anti-ageing, brightening and plumping benefits of pineapple to boost skin from the inside out; it’ll also help to support hair health and keep your nails smooth and shiny (two very welcome side effects).
