Beauty hacks that actually work

We talk a lot about beauty hacks here at bh, but I’ll admit I haven’t been game enough to try all of them. Some - like these hacks for mums - aren’t relevant to my routine, while others just seem too complicated (which if you ask me, defeats the whole purpose of hacks!).
With this in mind, I decided it was time not just to share, but to show you some beauty tricks I turn to time and time again. They’re quick and easy, and they actually work. Promise.
Of course, I’m not the only one who loves a beauty hack - the bh team is sitting on a goldmine of sneaky tips that help them to look #onpoint every day.
So, if the tricks in the video above aren’t your thing, there’s a good chance you’ll find your Holy Grail beauty hack below...
“I've used sticky tape to create winged liner and it really does work! The only downside is you either have to touch up your foundation because the sticky tape removes some of it, or apply your foundation after your eyes, which is tricky because you don't want to smudge the wing!” - bh’s Sam
"If I want my make-up to be super dewy, I mix a little liquid highlighter (Benefit High Beam is my go-to!) into my foundation. It adds extra luminosity to my look without making my face too shiny." - bh’s Anna
“When my lip gloss or lip balm gets a bit gloopy, I mix it with a bit of eye cream so it becomes smooth again. It also makes the formula more moisturising!” - bh’s Tina
“I love a good toothbrush hack! There are two I use regularly that actually work. The first is really simple: use your toothbrush to scrub your lips and exfoliate any dead skin cells. It leaves your pout so smooth! The second is to spray the bristles with hair spray and use it to brush down flyaways. Use a new or clean toothbrush for this, of course!” - bh’s Sam
“My hair used to be really long, so to make it easier to curl, I would put it in a ponytail. This meant I had easy access to the mid-lengths/ends. After curling, all I had to do was pull my hair out of the elastic and voilà: perfect curls!” - bh’s Julia
Which of these beauty hacks are you excited to try? Do you have any to add?

When I am at work and feel that my cuticles are dry and I dont have a cuticle cream on hand I just squeeze some lipbalm on them (the ones that are in a liquid form and come in a tube) and massage the liquid lipbalm on my cuticles.

I have a small bottle of High Beam so I think of all these hacks 'mixing it with my foundation is the one I'd try.

hmmm mixing eye cream with lipgloss seems strange. I would worry about contaminating both the products, Id rather buy a new lipbalm or lipgloss they are so cheap nowadays.

I love the spray hairspray on a bobbi pin trick to make it stick! I often use these little bobby pins for my hair or my girls and so I'm going to try this trick. I wonder if it will work on those flicky clips that are trying to hold my 12 year olds' unwanted fringe back.
I like the way the video was put together - whoever did that vid is clever at it! It was entertaining and easy and fun to watch. : )

I use Benefit's high beam to mix in with my BB cream or foundation too, it gives a beautiful finish. I don't use sticky tape to do winged liner, but hold a folded tissue or bit of folded paper up - that way I don't have to worry too much about either reapplying my make up or damaging the delicate skin around my eye area by trying to remove sticky tape all the time.

Rather than mixing my liquid highlighter WITH my foundation, I often apply highlighter to my face first and the apply foundation over the top. I should play around with mixing the two because it would save a bit of time, but my fear (and probably an unfounded fear) was that it would alter my level of coverage. I really should just spend a weekend playing around with it. That's part of the fun of makeup, after all!

I always use the tape for winged eyeliner, even eyeshadow to create a sleek look. I'll probably never master how to do a cat eye without

When my lipgloss is "gloopy" i throw it away. My eye cream is $100 and my most expensive lipgloss is $30.

good point and I totally agree, if lip or eye products get a bit goopy time to toss it out!
