bh’s Sam reviews Sukin Super Greens - Detoxifying Clay Masque
1) How does the product work and how should it be used?
The mask (or masque as the fancy people at Sukin call it), is formulated to draw out impurities and detoxify the skin. But even though it’s a clay mask, it contains moisturising ingredients to leave the skin hydrated and dewy.
2) What were your initial thoughts after the first use?
At first I was like, “Okay cool that did nothing.” I think it was because I didn’t see any changes straight away. My skin did feel smoother and had a better overall texture, but I wasn’t ‘wowed’ straight away. I thought maybe I hadn’t put enough on. (I only applied a bit more than I would a moisturiser.) The directions just said to apply it and wait for 15 minutes, but didn’t mention how thickly you should put it on. The main thing I did notice was the smell, it’s described as a cranberry scent, but I thought it smelt like cherry flavoured Starburst chews! Which was fine by me, because they’re damn delicious.
3) After prolonged use, did you notice a difference in the texture of your skin?
As I continued to use the product, the results definitely got better. I was a bit more generous with my application, which helped, but the real decider was when I only applied the mask to half of my face. I did this so I could see a better difference. And holy crap! The part that I didn’t apply it to looked so much more shiny and my pores were quite noticeable, whereas the side that had the mask treatment was so matte, smooth and my pores were way less noticeable. It was actually crazy the difference! I didn’t realise how much it was doing for my skin until I had something to compare it to. I’ve kept using it now every one to two weeks.
4) Did the product do what it claimed?
I mean, can you really judge ‘detoxifying’? But in terms of balancing my skin, cleansing the dirt and making my pores less noticeable – I’d say it lives up to its claims. I can see why people like it!
