Just another manic mud-day

There’s a lot to be said for mud, after all pigs love it and they’re placed fourth on the intelligence list after humans, primates and dolphins. Like most kids, I loved playing in the mud and making mud pies; so what is it that makes mud so appealing?
It soothes, smoothes and benefits dry, flaking skin. And, depending on the source of the mud, it can be jam-packed with a wonderful array of minerals and trace elements. Take Dead Sea Mud for example; the Israeli government has conducted much research into the effectiveness of its mud and found it to be rich in magnesium, known for its soothing influence on the skin; bromide, which soothes the nervous system; iodine, which helps to regulate the thyroid gland; sulfur, considered a natural disinfectant; and potassium, which is highly moisturising.
Thankfully, you don’t have to travel half way across the globe to get in on the mud action. Stock up on some of the fabulous mud products available in Australia and have your very own mud makeover.

This is interesting but I didn't EVER want to play in the mud as a child so I'm not really likely to want a mud bath now, no matter how beneficial it may be.

Mmmm - who would have thought mud could sound so appealing? I want to roll in a bath of purifying mud now but I won't be digging up the backyard just yet! LOL

Salt added to the bath from the DeadSea was a treat i used to use religiously many years back along with some essential oils till i used the dead sea salts all up & couldn't find any authentic ones in Oz to re-purchase. These are lovely sounding mud masks, the MJ one is a bargain & the Ayurda Fortified Mud Pack sounds great especially if it really does help psoriasis, eczema etc as they are really tricky to deal with. Thanks for the great down 'n dirty "Mud" article BH :) A quick swim in a swimming hole within the bush/rainforest is my other quick mineral enriching zap for my body (when i get the odd chance!)

I have heard so much about mud and how good it is for the skin, but there is actually a cheap alternative - kitty litter but before you say anything watch this video to see why! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-x6hCI9X0g

I love the Ahava Dead Sea mud.
They make a mud soap as well which is brilliant as a daily soap in the shower. I am all out :-(
I am not sure where in Australia I can buy the Ahava products-any one able to help?

I love products that contain a mud base, its soooo much fun and it makes you feel like you are in the day spa. Mud is really deep cleaning and cleanses out my pores.

I loved to apply mud all over my body in mud flats in NZ when I was younger. I have only ever tried a nutrimetics mud mask since, and that was years ago.

awsome- thanks for letting us know about the comp. I've used a couple of mud masks before- they are really nice and my skin always looks softer after using them.

I must say I have never really tried a mud mask. I do use a clay mask by Miessence. I use the purifying one and my skin is refined and the pores on my nose are visible reduced in size. I have an oily skin and this mask does wonders.
