Rose water

When it came to 2017 skin care trends, rose water ranked as one of the top up and comers. This Holy Grail product is touted as a way to calm acne and rosacea and it’s simple to use: after you cleanse, just dampen a cotton pad and splash it across your face. If it was good enough for Cleopatra back in the day, it’s good enough for us!

Vegan skin care

100% vegan friendly skin care began its meteoric rise a few years back but it’s now trending to be even bigger in 2018. To be classified as a vegan friendly product it should be free of all animal ingredients including honey, lanolin, collagen and gelatin, but isn’t necessarily not tested on animals.

Natural ingredients

Skin care products infused with natural ingredients have been powering up the skin care charts with supercharged momentum. It’s hard to find a brand that doesn’t offer a range without including, all or a few, natural ingredients. Not just included to look pretty, natural ingredients have the potential to produce effective results. Think manuka honey for its hydrating and anti-bacterial properties, seaweed to help soothe dry, flakey skin and olive oil to help nourish the skin.

At-home LED light therapy

We’ve all reaped the benefits of an in-salon LED light treatment, so when DIY devices hit the market last year we stoked. Made to help treat acne, wrinkles and dullness, LED at-home light devices are revolutionising the way we treat our skin without having to even leave the house.

Skin care supplements

Skin supplements gained traction in 2017 and hit the mainstream to help make our skin glow from the inside out. So 2018 is going to be a big year for this category. While our diet is the best way to nourish our skin, supplements can also play a role in skin health.

Exfoliating rollers

For some, an at-home skin exfoliating roller can be skin changing. With anecdotal evidence of glowing skin, reduced under eye bags and acne scar reduction, it’s definitely worth a try.

Jelly masks

The consistency of a jelly mask is just how jelly looks and feels: wobbly. But when it hits the skin it’s not as soft as edible jelly or as tight-feeling as a clay mask.
