Fun face masks that’ll bring you joy this week

We at beautyheaven love a good face mask – and while the benefits are often awesome (whether they be of the hydrating, balancing, mattifying or brightening varieties) let’s get one major thing straight. We’re usually 50% there because of the skin benefits, and 1000% there to look cute.

Because what’s a skincare session without a selfie or 12? And while a white cream mask is always solid, these funky formulas are bound to spark some serious joy. And we’re all about joy this week. So, in the name of quality Insta content, we’ve rounded up all the face masks you’re definitely going to want photographic evidence of – from cheeky colours to crazy textures.  Selfie cameras at the ready.

Skin Republic: what it does

Skin Republic Tiger Spot Clear Printed Face Mask Sheet with Tea Tree

This blemish-fighting sheet mask is packed with anti-inflammatory tea tree to minimise shine and balance bacteria. Oh, and we can’t stress this enough, it. makes. you. look. like. a. tiger.

There’s really not much we can say here except… epic. It apparently also makes other jungle cats want to hang out with you, too. Bonus.

Ella Baché: what it does

Ella Baché Instant Glow Mask

Glow is the name of the game here. Infused with hydrating hyaluronic acid and radiance-boosting rose hydrosol, it’s a shortcut to plump, dewy, glowy skin.

If Elle Woods were a face mask, this is the one she’d be. It’s also definitely what The Plastics would definitely wear on a Wednesday. Okay, you get it: It’s pink.

Alya Skin: what it does

Alya Skin Pink Clay Mask

Get ready for your face to feel tightened, brightened and purified – kaolin clay draws out toxins, witch hazel tones and aloe vera reduces the appearance of pores. Dream combo.

Spascriptions: what it does

Spascriptions Glowing Metallic Wash-Off Mask

Infused with gold, this manuka honey and royal jelly mask works to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while also boosting hydration.

Double Dare: what it does

Double Dare OMG! 2in1 Kit Detox Bubbling Microfiber Mask ($10, makeupboxx.com.au)

This double duty mask has two steps: first a detoxifying bubble mask to cleanse and purify, then a microfiber formula to feed skin with nutrients and enhance glow.

Okay, we know we literally just mentioned the second step, but honestly, with all the selfies we’ll be taking of this bubbly delight, it’ll be a blessing if we get to it.

  1. I tried a sample of The Body Shop's Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow mask the other night which has green tea leaves in it so that my face had bits of leaves stuck everywhere. No way I was going to take a selfie. I washed it off in the shower and my skin felt wonderful afterwards.

  2. I really want to try the GlamGlow gitter mask, I am a big fan of glamglow masks and this Glitter mask sure looks like fun. If I could get my hands on it, I sure would apply it on halloween and wear a witch costume too (it may sound weird, but it'll be loads of fun)

  3. Love the look of the Ella Bache mask. Another few that should be added to this list: Lush Don"t look at me, it is bright blue. Generation Clay Ultra Violet face mask, it is pastel purple and so pretty. Ole Henriksen Cold Plunge mask, it is a awesome teal colour and feels amazing ♡♡

  4. EB too pricey for one use mask.

Atm enjoying LuLuLun white/green sheet masks (for juicy skin and repair), Sands & Sky (their scrub 5 min then the mask extra 15-20!…omg glass smooth skin!!), T Ordinary SA 2% mask, Generation Clay purple mask, ya…fun times!

  5. The Skin Republic Spot Clear wouldn’t suit my sensitive skin, but I just love the tiger print, and I absolutely adore the gorgeous lil pussy cat. I’ve got my darling puss snuggled up snoozing with me right now. Mummy’s precious girl.

  6. The glitter mask looks interesting but I cant see that glitter is going to help your skin in any way and it certainly doesnt help the environment so I dont think this is something that we should be promoting

  7. More shockingly you get only 50mL of: water, PVA, denatured alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Ethylhexyl Hydroxystearate, Witch Hazel Water, clay, Pentylene Glycol, clay, Polysorbate 20, Clay, Caprylyl Glycol… omg…. this for 94 bucks. Yikes!

  8. I have a heap of sheet masks to get through plus I have some lovely clay masks such as Generation Clay Ultra Violet, Essano and Sand&Skye. I'm been making a conscious effort to now use them every 2-3 days.
