Skin Hydrating Masque Reviews

I was excited to try this masque as I have been enjoying Dermalogica since trying their products for the first time a few weeks ago. I have oily skin but it can become dehydrated in the cooler weather, so this product suits my needs. The mask works well to trap moisture in my skin, due to the presence of Hyaluronic acid in the product. I was surprised how supple and moisturised my skin was after first use with this mask.

The masque has a pleasant smell of cucumber and it feels cooling on the skin. The mask is a nice consistency and it does not dry out on the skin. I leave the mask on for 15 minutes then rinse it off with a cloth. My skin is hydrated and soft after I use this masque. I am very impressed by this masque and I would recommend it in the cooler months for when air heating and other heaters tend to dry out your skin. Overall my skin is soft and smooth and I feel confident. I love coming home to put this masque on my face after work. It is a nice masque to make a weekly relaxation ritual out of.

The Dermalogica consultant recommended this product to me as I have dry and sensitive skin. The mask claims to reduce fine and dry lines while helping to soothe and calm sensitive skin. The packing of this mask is in a tube form, in which you can control how much product you want to squeeze out. The product consistency is a clear gel without a smell.

My experience with this mask was not pleasant. When I first applied the mask, it did have a cooling and soothing effect. However, after a few minutes, my skin started to feel like it’s on fire and tingly. I immediately washed off the mask and my cheeks and chin became severely red. It looked like I had a sunburn on my face! The redness stayed on my cheeks and chin for the rest of the day and only calmed down the next day.

I would not recommend this product to people with dry and sensitive skin. If you would like to try this product, maybe do a patch test on a small part of the face and then apply all over the face when it is fine.

Thank you for sharing your experience, your consultant is correct in advising that the Skin Hydrating Masque is ideal for Dry and sensitive skins. However if the skin is sensitised (which means the protective barrier has become compromised), the formulation maybe too active and this is what may have happened in this situation.

Our skin can become sensitised due to a number of reasons such as; medication, stress, intensive treatments (peels, laser, microdermabrasion), environmental or incorrect product use just to name a few.

When our skin is sensitised we can experience an almost immediate skin response of flushing, redness and heat. You did the best thing which was to wash off the masque immediately. You are correct in saying patch testing can assist with preventing a skin response like this especially if the person is prone to; hyper sensitive skin, has had skin responses in the past or knows they currently have a sensitised skin.

I love this masque and always use it after using my gentle exfoliating cream. It leaves my skin feeling velvet soft and super smooth. It smells great and doesn't dry on the skin like a lot of masques.
However I find that I get the best results if I leave it on overnight whilst this isnt an issue for the price the product should do what it says in the time it says.

I have previously written a review for the old formulation, which was a completely clear gel which dries up considerably quickly.

I knew that the masque has been reformulated - I have recently got my hands on the reformulated version and I definitely like the new version more than the old version.

The new masque is a semi-transparent white gel-cream with a slightly thicker consistency. It is still very easy to spread evenly across skin. It retains its very lovely fresh scent with noticeable notes of cucumber. Because of the thicker consistency I only had to use a little amount. What I love about this masque more than the previous version is that it does not dry up and it is suitable for extended wear. After 15 minutes the masque turns clear and it remains mosit on skin until it is rinsed off. This is a masque suitable for overnight wear if one prefers.

My skin feels smooth and recharged afterwards.

I did not give it a 5 star because it contains a rather high level of dimethicone. Personally, I have no problem wearing silicone, but in a rather expensive product like this I would prefer it having active ingredients (rather than useless filler) as the first few ingredients. This product would have earned a 5-star for me if it is around $30 mark.

I found a budget alternative of this masque to be the Sukin hydrating masque. The consistency is similar (Sukin being slightly thicker still) and the result is similar. The Sukin has a nutty scent. It also dries up so I would use it for only 10 minutes but not extended period.

This is a clear gel masque which is very lightweight. I was surprised how lightweight this is. I do find that usually when I need a hydrating masque I wanted something thicker than this. I have normal (sometimes combination oily) skin.

I found that this masque also dries up if I apply too thinly. So I have to apply a thick layer if I want to leave this on for more than 10 or so minutes. Some other reviewers mentioned that they use this overnight. I haven't tried this but I don't think I would as I can see that it would dried up half way through my sleep.

This is a good product for a quick hydration boost, or daily use, or use on oilier skin without worrying that it would block pores or being too heavy/too oily. I like to use this product on hot summer days. It is not heavy duty enough to be a go-to masque when my skin is very thirsty.

This makes my skin appear refreshed, calmed and recharged. It was a perfect pick-me-up for my skin (and my daughter's) recently on holiday when we both needed to give our skin a treatment masque. This masque seriously works into the skin to revive and refresh. It makes my skin feel relaxed and pampered.

I'm definitely buying this one again!! I didn't know what I was missing before I used this product.

This product was reccommended to me at a beauty salon after receiving a facial. I succumbed to the sale and went home with my product. Knowing Dermalogica is a well-supported and liked brand my expectations were high.

The product comes with a flip-lid tube and is easy to dispense and securely close (I have not had any spillage issues). The product istelf is clear and light-weight and is applied to clean skin. Dermalogica reccommend washing it off after 15 minutes but I have also left it on overnight or during the day on a weekend aiming for a deeper moisturise. It's clear and leaves no residue so this can be done easily. It does however create a shine to my skin (in an oily/dry way not luminescent).

Compared to the thick rich moisturising creams I have and use I don't feel this product is as beneficial however if you're after a lighter product this may work for you.

This mask was highly recommended by the Dermologica consultant so I used it the night I received the product to trial. It comes in an upside tube that is easy to open and close. Not to mention you can squeeze as much as you want without it coming out too much in one go.

After I cleansed my face, I put on a generous amount to cover my face. It seemed fine at first but my face felt a bit of stinging. I thought it was due to my using the mask for the first time but 15 minutes later when I washed it off, my skin was still quite red.

Its been a few days now and my skin is still red. I am not sure if I will give it a try, I may try to let my skin heal a bit first before trying it again.

The consultants at Dermologica mentioned the mask could double up as a cuticle cream if you have excess product after applying it on your face.. Another way is to mix a bit of the mask with your moisturiser. I may try these 2 suggestions instead.

This product is certainly a bang for your buck! I personally have quite dry skin on my face and this product has truly made my skin more moisturised and soft. Gives my skin a healthy glow which makes me feel confident when going out with out any make up. Must have in every girls skin routine.
