Squinching is probably not all it’s cracked up to be

While we were all sleeping, a new selfie pose was born. Called ‘squinching’, it’s apparently utilised by celebs like Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne and Mila Kunis, and is meant to make you look nothing short of flawless and defined in your selfies. What does this selfie-saving squinching involve? Well, first you need to narrow your eyes – squint a little, if you will – focusing on tightening your bottom lid and letting your top one drop a teeny tiny bit. Or as I like to describe it: close your eyes, but resist it with all your might. Then you need to channel your inner Blue Steel and slightly suck in your cheekbones to find the perfect balance between a pout and a scowl. 
If your thinking, “um, what does that all even mean?!” – don’t worry, I had the same reaction. So obvs, I had to try squinching to see if it worked. And I gotta say, after 30+ selfies (in which I discovered that my left eye closes more than my right when squinting) and much pouting and slight cheek sucking, I call BS on this pose. Exhibit A:
Every shot looked like I was either about to sneeze mid-sentence, or reacting to sucking on a lemon. And since I doubted my squinching abilities, I got bh’s Sam in on the fun, and here’s her attempt:
Sorry, Internet, but squinching doesn’t work. I mean, it’s perfect for when you’re aiming for something a little more silly than sexy, but otherwise?
