Expert Reviews: Top-to-toe treats

If trying out new beauty products is an addiction, then we all need therapy. You’d think we’d be sick of it by now, but this week there were just too many shiny, new treats to trial, we couldn’t say no. And it’s not like we’re hiding it – in fact, we love sharing our finds with you!

We could have worse addictions… right?

La Mer The Illuminating Eye Gel

bh’s Rosie says:

“As a victim of dark under-eye circles and visible veins, I’ve always struggled to find that perfect eye cream that’ll brighten my skin without having to slap on concealer as well – until this little beauty came along! This gel is refreshing and cooling, and has tiny illuminating pigments that work to instantly blur and brighten the skin under the eyes, making me look (and feel!) like I got enough shut-eye the night before. The gel has a really smooth consistency that sinks in and has a luxurious, velvety-soft finish. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants an instant pick-me-up for the under-eye area, minus the layers of make-up!”

Aveda Damage Remedy Restructuring Shampoo, Conditionerand Treatment

bh’s Carli says:

“I think if my hair could separate itself from my head, it would. I have naturally curly hair. Like, very curly. Since I’d prefer to have wavy or straight hair (isn’t that always the way?), I always dry it with a hairdryer, then straighten it, and do touch-ups the next day to sort out any kinks. And then, because I can’t seem to stay away from hot hair styling, nine times out of ten I’ll curl my hair the following day. Basically, my hair is constantly feeling the effects of intense heat, so you can imagine how it’s starting to look. I’ve been using the AVEDA Damage Remedy range for two weeks now (which is five washes for me), and I’ve started seeing some really excellent results. My hair is feeling softer and I’ve noticed less flyaways since. Admittedly, I haven’t given up the hot tools, but the Shampoo and Conditioner (and I’ve used the treatment a couple of times) has definitely left my hair feeling less brittle and less likely to snap in half.”

Face of Australia Lip Paint

bh’s Beth says:

“When I first happened upon this lip gloss in ‘Tangerine Queen’, I adored its bright hue and hoped it’d give my lips a serious pop of colour. But although it says ‘super intense colour’ on the tube, it’s actually more of a sheer lip gloss with a tint. What it does give, though, is an incredible shine. It also has a delicious, sweet flavour that reminds me a lot of the Lip Smacker lip balms I used to love as a teen! While I wouldn’t recommend this one for a dramatic, nighttime look, it’s a great summery lip gloss with just enough of a tangerine tint to make a statement. It also glides on effortlessly – no mirror required – so touch-ups are a piece of cake.”

JERGENS BB Body Perfecting Skin Cream – Light

bh’s Sam says:

“I am the laziest person ever, but this cream has changed my ways. It actually makes me WANT to moisturise. First of all, can we all just stop to appreciate the packaging? Gold, shiny and incredibly luxe-looking. Secondly, the smell. Oh. My. God. I have never smelt a cream so good. It’s the most beautiful scent that’s not sickly at all, and I actually find myself sniffing my skin after putting it on. And that’s all before I even get to the fact that it’s a BB cream for the body. So yes, it’s tinted in colour, but it applies really sheer and doesn’t transfer onto your clothes once it absorbs (which it does, very quickly). As for the results, it’s really hydrating and helps to make your legs look smooth and evenly coloured. I now have one by my bed and one at my desk.”

Have you tried any of the above products? If not, which one would you most like to try?
