Why French women have such beautiful skin

Have you ever met a French woman with bad skin? Well, I haven’t, and on a recent trip to the land of chocolate croissants and cheese (yes, I’m STILL in a food coma), I discovered why: they have ah-mazing pharmacy skin care brands which stock create the best French skin care products.

Yep, I said pharmacy – as in, available on every street and pretty affordable. And, thankfully, many of these French skin care products can be picked up here, too, so you can stop Googling flights to Paris (seriously, stop) and say ‘bonjour’ to clear, hydrated and youthful skin!

BIODERMA

Regardless of whether you have a combination, oily or very dry complexion, the Bioderma range works with the skin’s natural functions to restore and soothe. It’s also suitable for the most sensitive of skin types.

Cult product: Sensibo H2O
Why? This micellar has all the benefits of a make-up remover, but is super gentle, fragrance-free, and doesn’t require rinsing. #winning

AVÈNE

Formulated with a high concentration of thermal spring water, the Avène range locks in dermal moisture for serious hydration. Thanks to its neutral pH levels, essential trace elements and silica, the range is suitable for most skin types including irritated, dry and blemish-prone skin.

Cult product: Thermal Spring Water
Why? This multi-purpose wonder soothes a slew of skin irritations. Think  facial redness, sunburn, eczema and nappy rash, just to name a few!

NUXE

Known for creating products with luxurious textures and fragrances, this is the brand to turn to if you want to indulge your senses. With a range of oil, skin, hair and body care products, Nuxe is perfect for nourishing and repairing from head-to-toe.

Cult product: Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil
Why? This liquid gold is formulated with six precious plant oils to nourish and repair dry skin and hair, leaving them looking healthier than ever. Apply and wait for the compliments to roll in.

LA ROCHE-POSAY

Named after the French town where the therapeutic thermal spring water was discovered, the La Roche-Posay range features skin care, hair care and even make-up. Though the brand boasts a huge range, it’s best known for soothing, relieving and offering some TLC to sensitive skin.

Cult product: Anthelios XL Melt-in Cream SPF 50+
Why? Fair-skinned French ladies are all about the slip, slop, slap. This sunscreen melts into skin for a hydrating finish, and is free from nasties like parabens and fragrance.

URIAGE

Enriched with thermal spring water, Uriage is a complete hypoallergenic range that moisturises and soothes skin, while protecting it from the harmful ageing effects of free radicals.

Cult product: Thermal Water Spray
Why? That’s right, French women LOVE thermal spring water sprays, and for good reason! It’s rich in minerals for long-lasting moisture and protection.
