Do your skin care products have to be from the same brand?

Do your skin care products have to be from the same brand?

Mixing and matching beauty products can be fun, but there’s also something to be said for playing favourites when it comes to skin care.

From the aesthetic appeal to complementary formulas, sticking with products from one range or brand can be really beneficial.

Here are five great reasons why…

1. They look fabulous on your vanity

Admit it, there’s something extremely satisfying about lining up a bunch of matching bottles. Whether they’re sleek and minimalist or super girly, a complete set of skin care products makes a serious style statement. Add a scented candle and a vase of fresh flowers and your bathroom is practically transformed into a day spa. Who wouldn’t want to delve in?

2. They’re better value

Beauties on a budget know the struggle: a complete skin care regimen doesn’t come cheap. The good news is, once you find your Holy Grail range, you’re likely to get more bang for your buck. From special offers to trial kits, free shipping and sometimes even free samples, there’s great value in showing some brand loyalty. Speaking of trial kits, the Trilogy trial kit, currently on offer from the brand, is the perfect introduction to the brand’s hero product line-up. It features mini versions of Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+, as well as Trilogy Cream Cleanser and Trilogy Vital Moisturising Cream – and it all comes in a handy calico pouch! So not only do you get to try the products before you buy the full size versions, you also get a bonus beauty gift.

3. They’re formulated to work together

While we all have different skin care needs, Trilogy in-house beauty expert Corinne Morley says adopting a skin care regimen from the same brand “ensures the formulas are complementary”, meaning the ingredients across the products are scientifically formulated to “work together to deliver optimum results”. Using complementary products also means you’re covering all the bases ingredients-wise. Even if you’re following a simple three-step regimen, “you know your skin is getting the goodness it needs”.

4. They give you a double dose of nourishing ingredients

According to Corinne, another benefit of using products from the same brand is you are “layering key common ingredients at each step”. All three products featured in the Trilogy trial kit contain the certified organic rosehip oil the brand is known for. Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+Trilogy Cream Cleanser and Trilogy Vital Moisturising Cream contain unique antioxidant complex, Rosapene™, which is a blend of certified organic rosehip, acai, tomato and cranberry seed oils.  The complex is formulated to “intensively nourish, hydrate and repair skin while protecting it against free-radical damage” and help “give the complexion a radiance boost”.

But that’s not all, “Using a cleanser, oil and moisturiser from the same brand means that your skin also benefits from the different [complementary] ingredients each product offers,” says Corinne. For example, Trilogy Cream Cleanser also contains carrot and almonds oils to help soothe skin; Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant+ contains lycopene and phytosterol to help prevent free-radical damage; and Trilogy Vital Moisturising Cream contains marula oil to help hydrate and rejuvenate skin. These ingredients work in harmony to help you achieve optimal skin care results.

5. They have complementary fragrances

Not keen to leave the house in a cloud of cloying, clashing scents? If you stick with products from the same range, “the fragrances will be complementary and won’t clash”, advises Corinne. In fact, you may find you smell so #onpoint that there’s no need for perfume at all! Case in point: Trilogy Cream Cleanser and Trilogy Vital Moisturising Cream feature the same light, subtle, natural scents designed to stimulate your senses, without overwhelming them.
