Tested: lip injectables
My mouth has sadly been the bane of my existence since my teenage years. I understand that that sounds ridiculously superficial, but if you take a look at the rest of my perfectly-pouted family, you would understand why my distaste for my emaciated, upturned lips is so deep.
Not one to be defeated by such trivialities as genetics, I knew that a time would come where I would make the jump from complaining about my ‘lip-uation’ to grabbing life by the throat and yelling, “I can change this, sucker”! And alas, after much research into what options I had, I jumped in my car and headed straight to lip injection expert Dr Van Park and have since said sayonara to my thin lips!
Restylane Lip Volume
A number of treatments can now be used to plump up your lips. I chose to try out hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally-occurring acid in the skin and offers you fuller lips for three to nine months. I went with Restylane Lip Volume as I wanted a sexier pout (minus the trout).
Restylane Volume is designed to provide an individualised treatment for women who are looking to enhance their lip volume, define the lip border, emphasise definition or simply to make lips appear smooth. With an in-built anaesthetic, you no longer have to grit and bear the pain of the injection or have a dental block to numb the area, and you will be out of the clinic within minutes of being injected.
Bruising and swelling are common side effects of all needle usage. With lip injectables, the only other thing that may occur (which did happen with me), are tiny lumps forming under the injection sites. These usually subside after a couple of days, or can last for months: it just depends on how your body responds to the filler.
To say I am over the moon with my lips is an understatement. I am so much more confident about smiling: no longer am I fearful of my gummy grin. It will most definitely become a yearly thing and it has even given me enough confidence to wear lipstick, daily: something I avoided for years.
What tips do you have for making your lips fuller? Would you ever consider injectables?
