Close, but no cigar McCord.

Have you ever had a beauty look that was almost just right but didn’t quite make the mark? When all it needed to be perfect was a few tweaks here and there? It’s amazing how many times we see images of friends or celebrities and think, “gosh, I wish I could have added a little more bronzer to those cheeks!” or, “I’m going to her house and throwing out that orange gloss if she continues to ruin her photos with it!”

It can be frustrating being on the outside looking in – and even more so when it’s your own look that you just can’t seem to get right (cue the strop, followed by an eventual dawning that sometimes it really is the little things that make the most difference).

Take Annalynne McCord for instance. Normally universally gorgeous, in this shot from the Iris by Cirque De Soleil World Premiere, McCord looks slightly weathered, like she’s been out for a night on the town and hasn’t slept a wink. Had she swapped the bronze shadow under her eyes for a lighter champagne hue, she’d instantly look less tired and more wide-eyed.

The foundation-style shade on her lips also makes her look a bit ghostly and does nothing to break up the beige theme that carries from her face to her hair. I would have opted for a really glossy red or pink lip lacquer to brighten this look right up if I were her make-up artist.

What do you think of Annalynne’s look?

What do you call on when your look just doesn’t seem right?

Check out these celebs who got it wrong – oh so wrong…

and the ones who go barefaced, whether we like it or not…
