5 ways to keep skin clear

Don’t feel like you’re in control of your skin? Crystal clear skin is one of those things we’d all love to have, but in reality, it’s not always the easiest thing to achieve. Luckily, there are a few simple steps you can follow to maximise your chances of sporting a pimple-free complexion.
Give these a go and see some improvement in your skin….
1.) Try not to touch too much
Be conscious of the number of times you touch your face during the day, as when you do so, you transfer oil and bacteria onto your skin, which can lead to congested pores, and pimples. While we know it’s unrealistic to avoid touching your face altogether, if you at least become more aware of it we bet that before long you’ll only be doing it half as much! It’s also a good idea to be aware of what you rest your face on during the day (think: mobile phone, yoga/exercise mat, bus window, pillow).
2.) Make the right make-up decisions
If you suffer from pimples or constant skin congestion, then it’s more important than ever to make sure that you pick make-up products specifically formulated for pimple-prone skin. Look for make-up products that are dermatologist tested and that state that they’re, ‘non-comedogenic’ on the label, as this means that they won’t block your pores. When choosing a foundation, opt for one with an oil-free, mattifying, or mineral-based formulation as these will all help to control excess oil production.
3.) Gently cleanse, don’t overkill
While keeping your skin clean is paramount to achieving a clear complexion, overdoing it with harsh cleansers and scrubs can actually cause problems, rather than solve them. Not only can it strip your complexion of essential oils and cause your skin to overcompensate by producing more sebum, but the too-astringent ingredients will leave your face looking red and feeling tight and dry. Clearasil Daily Clear Oil-Free Daily Gel Wash is a daily cleanser that combats pimples and congestion, without being too harsh on your skin – which means that you can use it twice-daily with confidence that your skin will stay clean!
4.) Eat a balanced diet
Healthy insides equal healthy-looking outsides; so eating a balanced diet will definitely help you on your quest for clear, radiant skin. So ditch the chips, chocolates and fried foods and opt instead for fish (such as salmon, tuna and mackerel, which are high in skin-loving omega 3 fats), leafy greens (full of nutrients and antioxidants), and wholegrains (high in fibre to ensure effective digestion). Drinking water will also help to keep your skin clear and radiant looking.
5.) Enjoy regular exercise
You all know that exercise is good for your heart, lungs and body, but do you know that regular exercise can benefit your skin too? When you exercise, you stimulate your circulation and increase blood flow, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to your cells – including your skin cells, which take on a healthier glow. Increased blood flow also aids in carrying away toxins and free radicals from your cells, making them work more effectively. Regular exercise will also help to decrease your stress levels, which can reduce any stress-related breakouts, redness or skin irritation.

I don't get them often but these are 5 really good tips. Common sense but it's good to be reminded as sometimes hard to stick to daily. Water is one I have no trouble with, but I never seem to get enough sleep!

I've been a chronic acne sufferer and recently I've started walking at least 30 min a day (a little goes a long way) + drinking at least 1.5L water...So far my skin has cleared up and it's only been a few days!

I am 40 soon and still battling spots and clogged pores plus oily skin. I have started using Dermalogica and a more gentle cleanser which has made a bit of a difference. Apart from a mostly healthy diet and loads of water and sunscreen, for me it's all about trying to keep my face as matte as possible.
