If you know anything about me by now, you’ll know I’m a fan of Ms Barrymore. So, as I was flicking through a certain trashy mag yesterday – a clichéd vice I know – I was thoroughly impressed to notice the following: a) Drew’s newly blonde, super-sleek, super-straight locks (love); b) the divine, dewy red lips (want); c) her flawless, porcelain complexion (got, kind of); d) her gorgeously, golden / mustard one-shoulder frock (need) and last – but by no means least – e) her sky-blue, chipped finger polish (ooh, have – but in coral).Hold on, impressed with chipped nail polish? What’s next, casting a ballot for the return of tangerine hands? Surely either would ruin her polished look? For me it just made me love her a whole lot more.
It’s not rocket science to imagine that I love beauty a tad more than the next person (I know you do too). But I also know that life gets in the way sometimes. Sure I like nothing better than doing the dishes with a killer red lip but I’m also not averse to a shopping spree with chipped polish à la Drew if the dishes have destroyed my mani.
For me, it’s the people that don’t take the whole beauty lark too seriously, the ones that don’t look like they’ve been uncomfortably primped and preened within an inch of their life that are an inspiration to me. The ones that are always surprising you, they’re the ones I aspire to be. Because I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, beauty is meant to be fun! There are no rules in my book, so Drew’s nails are less “skanky”, more funky. In my humble opinion, of course.
What do you think?
