Change is coming

Change is coming

A big part of my job is trying new products.

Great when it comes to recreating a million-and-one make-up looks or hair styles, experimenting with nail shades, or trialing various body buys, but not always so ideal in terms of skincare.

Of late, I’ve been noticing that my skin has been more prone to pimples – nothing major, just a bit of complexion congestion and a little spot here and there. But still, more than usual.

Wracking my brain to work out why, the usual suspects (too much sugar, stress, lack of sleep, that time of the month), were soon eliminated. And then it suddenly dawned on me – I’d been swapping and switching my skincare supplies so frequently that my poor complexion was having a breakdown (or breakout, more like it!).

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you shouldn’t try different products, but it definitely takes some time for your skin to ‘settle’ into a new regime, so it’s probably not the best idea to be mixing and matching moisturisers (and the rest), more often than you change your underwear.

The products currently vying for my attention from my bathroom cupboard are:

Estee Lauder Hydrationist Crème for Normal/Combination Skin
Neutrogena Acne Stress Control Power-Clear Scrub and Power-Cream Wash
NIVEA Visage 2in1 Wash & Scrub
La Mer Regenerating Serum (this particular product is only launching in April – more about it then I promise!)
Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant Daily Moisturiser with SPF15

Although I love them all equally, I think I’m going to have to force myself to focus on one brand at a time for the sake of my skin’s sanity. What do you think?

Do you chop-and-change your cosmetics too often?
