Meet my new BFF. Her name is Kora.

With the natural skincare sector expanding faster than my waistline during Easter, it’s no surprise (and much a lucrative business venture) that Supermodel/Zen Master Miranda Kerr is the face of her very own natural skincare line, Kora. Now, there is quite a ruckus being made about the validity of natural beauty products and cosmetics. The term ‘natural’ within the beauty industry has become quite blurred, where almost any product can give itself a Natural Status (say cyanide with banana peel extract). However, the lovely Ms Kerr’s new skincare range is defined natural in a stricter sense with 95% Certified Organic and 5% naturally derived ingredients.

As someone, with sensitive, combination, breakout-y skin (depending on how many Cadbury Cream Eggs I’ve eaten) I have always been wary of using foaming cleansers that may potentially strip the skin and cause it to overproduce oil. So when I noticed a cream cleanser in the Kora range I reveled in delight. (It was all I could do not to send a formal email to Miranda’s people asking for her hand in marriage.)

The instant impression of the cleanser is denoted by its delicate and subtle Sandalwood sent. AND as everybody knows Sandalwood has antimicrobial properties, excellent for blemish prone skin. To use the cleanser is easier than Miranda is on the eyes. Simply pump out of the bottle, massage into your skin and rinse off with lukewarm water. However, be warned. You may encounter some side-effects not mentioned on the packaging. Soon after using the cream cleanser your skin may feel as smooth as a baby’s bee-hind, and just as plump. Also, don’t be surprised if you notice and instant reduction in redness (must be due to the soothing Chamomile).

The most intriguing ingredient is something called Noni. And unless that is the extract of a beloved former Play School presenter and Australian personality (who was also on Better Homes and Gardens for those whom missed the glory of Big Ted and the Rocket Clock), I have no idea what it may be.

My ‘research’ tells me it’s a fruit bearing tree of the coffee family (and who doesn’t like coffee?) native to the South Pacific Islands of Polynesia and has traditionally been used medicinally by French Polynesians for thousands of years. The fruit is jam-packed full of vitamins and antioxidants (super scavengers of the free radicals that cause premature aging and unsightly wrinkles). Which is why in almost every interview, Kerr attributes her radiant appearance to the consumption of copious amounts of Tahitian Noni Juice (and why it must be an ingredient in almost all the Kora range).

With such success using the facial Cream Cleanser, I’m incredibly excited to try the Tinted Day Care Cream, which I hear gives great coverage. Now if Lady Kerr could add a tinted sunscreen to the Kora range I might truly make that proposal.
