10 of the best: beauty buys under $15

Feeling the pinch after Christmas? Yep, we hear ya! January has the tendency to send us all into panic mode, worrying we’ve overspent and resolving to cut back on some of life’s luxuries.

But we do have some good news for you. Even if you’ve pledged to rein in that beauty spending in 2013, you don’t have to sacrifice looking good just because you’re on a budget. Want proof? OK then, here it is: we challenged members of the bh team to come up with their favourite beauty buys under $15 dollars, and they came up with a list that’s definitely worth reading.

And the even better news? You can pick up some of these super-cheap, yet super-effective products for as little as $2! Crazy, right?

Tara –Vaseline Petroleum Jelly (RRP: $2.39 for 50g and $3.62 for 100g)
It’s a beauty staple of mine. It’s in my bedside drawer and I pop some on my lips every night before bed.

Cherie – Rimmel London 9-in-1 BB Cream SPF 25 (RRP: $12.95)
As a HUGE fan of BB creams, I recently discovered this newbie and I am utterly in love with its sheer-but-skin-evening coverage, as well as its ability to make my skin radiate with health. Oh, and the high SPF factor is a wonderful bonus.

Laura – Palmolive Body Butter Body Wash (RRP $6.49)

I have really dry skin but don’t have time to moisturise my body every day so this is my perfect solution. It’s really nourishing and the skin on my arms, legs and back feels really hydrated when I use it in the shower. Luscious Mango is my current favourite scent.

Kate – Johnson’s® Baby Oil (RRP: $5.49)
It can be used as a great make up remover, body moisturiser, pop some in bowl of warm water as a foot soak, cuticle oil– its wonderful and ever so cheap!

Di – Nivea Extra Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover Lotion (RRP: $8.79)
It quickly and easily removes all traces of eye make-up without stinging and does not leave that awful dried out feeling around your eyes that some make-up removers do.

Carli – essence Kajal (Kohl) Pencil (RRP: $1.95)
Essence Eyeliner – a soft eyeliner that goes on super-easily and doesn’t smudge/rub-off all day. Absolute win!

Liv – Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick (RRP: $11.95)
For me this wins hands down! Why I love it: if you’re after a pigmented, long-lasting lip colour that delivers all the punch and pizzazz of a lippy five times its price, then you’ve found it in these sweet-smelling lip hues from Kate Moss for Rimmel London.

Annalise – Ulta3 nail polish (RRP: $2)
Ulta 3 nail polishes have on-trend colours that look good on fingers and toes, are long lasting and easy to apply. Two coats and you’re ready to go.

Natalie – Vaseline Intensive Care Dry Skin Conditioning Lotion (RRP: $4.99 for 200 mL,  $7.29 for 375mL,  $10.99 for 750mL and $14.99 for 1.5L)
It smells amazing, is really moisturising and dries super fast.

Deb – Maybelline New York Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner (RRP: $13.95)
It makes winged eyeliner looks super simple to achieve, lasts for hours without smudging and is easy on the purse strings, too!
