Expert Trial Team: four finds we couldn’t resist

Every once in a while something in the beautyheaven beauty cupboard will catch our eye, forcing us to stop, drop and trial. It could be that the product in question is the perfect solution for a particular beauty problem, the exact shade we’ve searching for, or the packaging was just too pretty to remain untouched. Whatever the reason, sometimes it is simply impossible to resist. But did the products that caught our eye this week match up to our expectations? Read on to find out…

UBU Lasharazzi Eyelash Curler

bh’s Carli says…

“Have you ever had one of those epiphany moments where you say to yourself, ‘Why the hell don’t I do this more often?’ That’s exactly what happened to me after giving this eyelash curler a whirl. I’ve tried eyelash curlers before. Many, in fact. But this one truly impressed me, and not just because it’s incredibly pretty to look at.

First of all, it’s easy and comfortable to hold. It doesn’t feel like it’s awkwardly digging into your thumb or forefinger, which makes it much easier to angle it properly. Then, the spring helps the curler grip my last perfectly – not too hard that it hurts, but hard enough that it’s actually doing something. I didn’t experience any ‘oops-I-caught-the-skin-on-my-eye-lid’ moments and was very pleased with how much the jazzy little tool lifted my lashes.”

Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Body Wash

bh’s Beth says…

“Coming into winter, my skin tends to become itchy and dry. This, coupled with the fact that I’m a girl who loves to take super-hot showers, means I’m always on the lookout for body washes that moisturise as well as cleanse. Aveeno’s Skin Relief body wash formula contains skin-soothing natural oatmeal, which I liked the sound of; so I thought I’d give it a try. Personally, I’m not a fan of strongly-scented body products. This one is fragrance free, with a very light, pleasant smell that’s not overpowering. I also hate body washes that don’t foam well as I never feel properly clean. Shower products meant for sensitive skin often fall into this category, but not this one: I only needed a small amount to get a really good, creamy lather. Post-shower, my skin felt smooth and soft – and that was before I applied any moisturiser!”

Kérastase Densifique Masque Densité

bh’s Sam says…

“I’m so mean to my hair. I hardly ever use heat protectant, yet heat style it constantly, not to mention I’m very lazy when it comes to salon visits. So really it’s no surprise that my hair is riddled with split ends and falls out even at just the sight of a hairbrush. I had all fingers and toes crossed that this mask would help to repair the damage and allow my hair to become healthy, strong and voluminous once again. I was not disappointed. Honestly, I used to despise the extra step of a hair mask, but now that I’ve seen and felt the results of this one for myself I’ll never go without it again. My hair has new life; it’s bouncy, shiny, my split ends are almost non-existent and I am definitely experiencing less hair fall-out. It’s such a luxurious treat for my hair, which eases the guilt of how terrible I am to it on an everyday basis.”

M.A.C Limited Edition Proenza Schouler Lipstick in Mangrove

bh’s Rosie says…

“I couldn’t go past the stunning metallic ombre packaging of this lipstick. Part of new MAC and Proenza Schouler limited edition collection, I trialled the bright orange-red lipstick in Mangrove. Housed in super-shiny metal packaging, I couldn’t wait to road test it at after-work drinks. But it wasn’t only the packaging that caught my eye – the colour of this lipstick packed a serious punch. It glided on to my lips and distributed the colour evenly, leaving me with a highly-pigmented matte finish in the perfect red hue. I found that the colour had a smooth texture that kept my lips hydrated and I was still able to rub my lips together without them feeling dry. After eating and sipping cocktails, I thought I would need to touch up my lippie, but to my surprise, it was still well in tact!”
