Face serums?
Hi,
I am 20 years old and was wondering what kind of face serum or night cream would be best for me to start using now? Or what kind of antioxident rich products I should be using. I have normal skin with some breakouts, any suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, April.

Hey, I’m 20 too and I have skin that changes aaaall throughout the year – in winter it’s incredibly dry and flaky, in summer it’s oily, and the rest of the time it alternates depending on all kinds of things, usually staying at normal or combination. On top of that, I also have eczema and massive pores. Woohoo.
I find that all year round the Avene Serum is the best serum to use – use it morning and night, in the morning before you put on moisturiser/primer, leaving it to soak in for about 3 minutes before putting anything else on top, and at night in the same way. It’s quite thick feeling, almost like a gel, but once on you’ll barely feel it.
Currently it’s unavailable in Australia, BUT I managed to find it on echemist.co.uk – it’s an absolutely fantastic website, they sell all the Avene stuff way cheaper than Priceline (eg I buy the moisturiser off there for about $18, whilst in Priceline it’s $51). I think you can get it on there for $22 or so, the shipping is free, and it’ll be at your door in 1-2 weeks. They’re also super reliable; I’ve used them for about 6 months now and never had a problem!
I really hope this helps, and good luck in finding something that works for you! Trust me, once you’ve started using serum you’ll never want to go back to not using it =)

I actually brought the Serum Sampler and it’s amazing. I love having the different serums to try out. My favourites out of them are;
Ole Henrikson Truth Serum
SK-11 Facial Treatment Essence
Subtle Energies Facial Oil Blend
Alpha H Liquid Gold Prep & PrimeI would suggest that if you’re in your early 20s and have any type of problem with oily/combo skin or breakouts, maybe give the Ole Henrikson one a try. It isn’t oily like other face oils/serums and it absorbs rapidly.

For young skin like yours, I’d definitely recommend Rosehip Oil. Soothing and hydrating.
If you don’t want to use that, look at Olay’s Regenerist range. L’Oreal also bring out some good serums. These are BIG companies with large research budgets and they are pretty good at providing consumers on a budget with the latest skincare ingredients and formulations.
When you get closer to your 30s, I’d recommend something with some retinol in it to attack those first signs of ageing. I am loving Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. It’s so soothing and lovely. A bit $$ but I try to grab it duty free.
If you have specific issues with your skin you want to address – pigmentation or acne or redness, let us know! There is a serum for everything. 🙂

I love my Dr lewinns hydration serum and Paulas choice BHA serum or anti ox serum.
You can get cheaper hydration serums containing hyaluronic acid off ebay – i got a Berrisom branded one off there and thought it was very reasonable – $25 inc shipping if i remember correctly.
Paulas choice does sample packets too! Her BHA and AHA serums dont feel that nice but they do work nicely. The anti ox one does feel lovely on the skin. -

I use akin rosehip oil every night after cleansing and it’s gives my face a gorgeous radiant glow. I use Estée Lauder idealist even skin tone illuminator in the mornings as I love how it evens out my skin tone as well as giving me glowing skin. By the way I am 27.
