The eyes have it all

The eyes have it all

Preventing the signs of ageing is my number one priority when it comes to skincare, so it is with no great coincidence that I am a stickler for quality eye creams. I started using eye creams at night when life flipped over to 23 and I realised I wasn’t getting any younger. Alexia Shinas, from Sydney’s Next of Skin salon says, “Its never too early to start using an eye cream, the younger the better! I would suggest women in their teens and 20’s with dry skin start using a hydrating eye cream with antioxidants and SPF to keep free radicals at bay. “

Eye creams keep your eye area moist and hydrated, which in turn keeps you looking younger. “When wrinkles get dry, they look deeper and worse, therefore a good eye cream will help moisturise so fine lines don’t show up as much” says Shinas.

A lot of my friends did not realise they should be using an eye cream, thinking it was just an ‘older person thing’. I will admit, every time they tell me that I die a little inside and then break into song-and-dance about the pros of investing in eye creams. But instead of my song and dance, my lovely readers, I thought I would let a professional give you the 411 on the importance of eye creams:

“It is easier to prevent aging, rather than trying to reverse it. The eye area is totally different from the rest of the face. It is more sensitive and more prone to wrinkles and other signs of skin aging and eye creams contain more powerful active ingredients to help compensate that “ says Alexia Shina, Next of Skin.

So, after that information overload, what eye creams should you be giving a go? Let me help you there.

Ella Bache Crème Spèciale Yeux

Ella Bache blissfully reminds me of my childhood: Dior and Ella Bache were the only products my Mum used. So, when I opened this pot of dark-circle-banishing goodness, it took me back 10 years

Ella Bache Crème Spèciale Yeux Eye cream is an intensely rich cream that minimises the appearance of fine lines and crows feet whilst upping hydration. This baby has now been reintroduced into my Mum’s life and her eye area is currently on another planet- the planet amazing, that is! No more dark circles for her. Stockist: www.ellabache.com.au

Dr Hauschka Daily Revitalizing Eye Cream

For those who know me well, you will know that I have an obsession with German brands. Sure it could have something to do with my Germanic heritage and the fact that I used to live in Austria, but another reason I turn to this particular German brand in particular is its quality. Germans know how to make a superb product: and this eye cream is no different.

With a concoction of fruity goodies, Dr Hauschka Daily Revitalizing Eye Cream tones, reduces fine lines and brings an intense hydration to the delicate eye area. If you are looking for an eye cream that is not too oily to use before make up, then definitely pop this one in the trolley. Stockist: www.drhauschka.com.au
