We review: Omnilux light therapy treatment

I’ve been living with a guilty secret. I don’t do very much to look after my skin – especially considering I work in the beauty industry, surrounded by beautiful, well-groomed, knowledgeable and committed beauty-people. It’s probably because I’m busy and don’t make skin maintenance a priority, combined with the fact I’m lucky to have generally quite good and reasonably hard-wearing skin.

As a result I’ve never had special salon-based treatments, certainly no regular beauty salon appointments and worse, I have very little expertise to do-it-myself either. But for the past two months I’ve been putting in a lot of effort to try and undo all past mistakes – with the generous assistance of the people from True Solutions. They let me trial the Omnilux light therapy treatment which helps to revive and refresh skin. True Solutions distributes many brands including Decleor, Priori, IIlsci, MD Formulations and Carita, as well as the Omnilux machine.

I’ve now had seven sessions of Omnilux treatments, plus complimentary products from Priori (Cleanser, Skin Renewal and Barrier Repair creams) that I’ve used religiously every day. This combination is supposed to enable the treatments to have the maximum effect.

The sessions themselves have become a special time when I enjoy delicious pampering and an hour of relaxation, but, more importantly, does it actually work?

The results are in.

I’ve been looking at my face more closely each day to see if I can see any difference, especially straight after the treatment and the next day. Is it different? Yes. Better? Most definitely.

So here’s my review of my face and the things I’ve noticed. And bare in mind, I’m a tough critic. My husband, my children and the people who work here can vouch for it!

Around the eyes the fine lines are softer and the skin generally less crepey than it was. The area around my cheekbones feels and looks a little plumper.

(Wow – who knew my lips were so uneven?!) The lines that run from my nose down to the outer side of my lips are lighter, less deep and I’ve also noticed that the little lines around my lips are finer too.

Overall the skin on my face is improved in appearance – it is more even in tone (I had a blotchy area of pigmentation on my forehead which is much reduced), slightly plumper overall, generally lines are finer and it just looks more healthy.

Last night, for the first time in weeks, I wore a primer and foundation to go out for the evening. The products seemed to blend into my skin better and produced a really lovely, even and smooth result. I was surprised and really pleased to see such a difference.

So in summary I believe my skin has benefitted enormously from this experience. Admittedly it’s been quite intensive – once a week for seven weeks – and I’m not accustomed to committing to something like this. Having experienced it and seeing the results though, I will now be continuing on a once-per-month basis. I am prepared to pay for it.  And at the end of that day that’s the ultimate test. Enough said.
