4 new beauty trends you have to try
Sure, beauty trends come and go (remember these ones from the 90s?), but that’s exactly why we love them so much: You can change up your look on a whim, but stay secure in the knowledge it’s not forever.
Check out the video above for the trends we’ll be trying this July, then look below for the best products to help you achieve them…
1. Reverse/backwards headband
Lauren Conrad showcased a reverse headband on Instagram a few weeks ago, and of course it’s now taken over Pinterest! Worn wrapped around the back of your ‘do (instead of near your hairline), it’s an easy, affordable way to jazz up your hairstyle – and lots of high street brands and fast fashion style sites have been getting on board!
As seen in the video (in order of appearance): ASOS Occasion Side Leaf Back Headband ($18, asos.com/au), ASOS Flower Vine Headband ($39, asos.com/au)
2. Eyeliner art
Eyeliner art is not for the faint-hearted, but for those who dare, it’s a wonderfully head-turning beauty look for a night out! Kristen Stewart is a huge fan, but we’ve also been seeing it all over Instagram (so it’s not just for celebrities). From bold colours to glitter, confetti (below) and bubble eyeliner (yeah, that’s a thing), there’s no limit to how you can approach it.
Try the trend: Chi Chi Glitter Eyeliner Set, Rimmel London Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Stick in Tempting Turquoise, e.l.f. cosmetics Essentials Shimmer Eyeliner Pencil

3. Husky brows
Bold brows have been a thing since Cara Delevingne burst onto the scene, but lately we’re seeing a softer take, which ELLE UK has coined the ‘husky brow’. Slightly fluffy and feathered, the look adds dimension to the brows without too much colour. Check out the video for steps on how to get it!
4. Anti-pollution products
You only need to look out the window to see that pollution is getting worse. Luckily, the big beauty brands are paying attention (and with some major studies finding that pollution can accelerate lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and other signs of ageing, it's time we paid attention too!). We're tipping that pollution protection could be the new SPF…
Try the trend: Kiehl’s Cilantro & Orange Extract Pollutant Defending Masque, REN Flash Defense Anti-Pollution Mist ($73, mecca.com.au), Dior One Essential Intense skin detoxifying booster serum ($157, myer.com.au)
