Is bee venom the new Botox?

When I was little, I sat on the edge of a pool, and it turned out a bee was sitting there too. Within seconds, cue a screaming child and a majorly swollen butt cheek. Ouch.
How on earth does this story relate to skin care, you ask? Well, bee venom causes swelling of the skin, so the skin care geniuses out there thought it’d be a fab idea to put it into skin care products to plump out lines and wrinkles. Makes sense, right?
So, how does bee venom benefit skin?
Bee venom stimulates blood circulation within the skin, which helps to plump and firm the skin, making fine lines and wrinkles less visible. Thanks to this sudden rush of blood under the skin’s surface, bee venom can also stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. The result? Instantly plumper skin, and younger-looking, healthier skin over time.
How should I use bee venom?
Because of its anti-ageing and plumping benefits, some skin care brands have formulated moisturisers, face masks and serums with bee venom. This makes it super simple to incorporate the stuff into your skin care routine. Just switch your regular serum or moisturiser for one containing bee venom and watch your skin reap the benefits!

Keen to get Kylie Jenner-like lips without committing to injections and looking OTT? A bee venom-based product our members have fallen head over heels for is the Abeeco Bee Venom Lip Plumper. Check out a couple of reviews below.
“The first time I tried the lip plumper, I was so surprised of the immediate effect. My lips tingled a lot, which I thought was a little weird, but it just showed how effective the formula was! After a few applications, the tingling didn't seem as strong as before, but I could see a considerable difference in my lips. Not only were my lips plumper, but also the creases were considerably smoother. I’m a very satisfied lady! :)” – Belle88
“It doesn't plump massively, but it does hydrate your lips and plump out all of the lines. The tingling sensation brings colour to the lips, also making them look fuller and rosier.” – MsSparkles
Step aside, Botox!
Did you know about bee venom’s anti-ageing effect on skin? Are you keen to try products containing bee venom?

Not everyone is aware they are allergic to bees, so this could be responsible for a possible allergic reaction, which could be serious. Not for me.

I know I’m allergic, so this one probably isn’t for me!

Yes, my thoughts exactly.
I won’t go anywhere near anything with bee "venom" in it!
As it is, I’m asthmatic so I can’t use royal jelly or propolis.

I'm glad you are being careful Lucy. Asthma can be very serious so you need to be careful. Plenty of other products for us to try.

The part that concerns me most is that not everyone who is allergic to bee stings knows unless they've been stung and no one can convince me it might not be an issue. Go for it if you want to, I won't.

There seems to be a lot of controversy on this subject such as not killing the bee's, Vemon, What it does/doesn't, Allergic reaction. Those of you that have these opinions you are entitled to them but other's have the right to choose if they want to try this or not without you guy's influence them the other way. I definitely want to try the bee vemon & see what all the hype is about I've read other article's & I'm just hearing soo much about this product. As for this botox thing that's much more serious & that's mainly injection's pumping out your face spending a fortune not looking real. This bee vemon is a face cream & all it does plump's up your face & straighten out your wrinkles sounds like any normal cream how is this the new botox? This is no where near botox.

What if you are allergic to bees? I would assume you wouldn't be able to use any similar products?

Actually it reminds me - I have seen a lot of bee venom stuff in New Zealand. At that time I thought it's some sort of "analogy", (like Dragon blood), and not real bee venom.

I wouldn't use bee venom products at all because after looking into the processes used it seems MANY bees will die. If the information I found is accurate it appears that while not all the bees used will die in the process of getting the venom, if using a "well adjusted collector device" around 10 bees per hive will die during a 30 minute collection so that would add up rapidly to alot of bees being killed. Electric shocks are used to cause the bee to release the venom. One reason not all of them die is apparently because the stinger is not going through a thick layer of skin, instead other materials are used like glass and/or plastic sheets which the venom is then scraped off. I previously thought that all bees died after stinging anything but some survive using the method described and also certain types or breeds of bees are said to be able to live after stinging people or other mammals so can repeatedly sting. Bees are vital to this planet so I think it's disgusting that this method is used for supposed beauty purposes.
