Ultraceuticals skin challenge - 60 day progress report: Acne

bh member - Shanae375
Week six began with my third in-salon treatment – another mandelic acid peel that was followed by an infusion using UltraSonophoresis technology. The infusion utilises [a] low frequency ultrasound to penetrate dermal layers of the skin. The peel itself was gentle and non-abrasive, and the infusion left me feeling calm and relaxed. Immediately after, my skin felt smooth, moisturised and had some elasticity to it!
I also left with another take-home product – a highly potent Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum, which I couldn’t introduce into my at-home routine until the infusion had had some time to absorb and do its thing (target pigmentation and sunspots – yes please!). For the five days following the powerful peel, my daily morning routine consisted of the Ultra Clear Foaming Cleanser, the Ultra Clear Treatment Lotion and then the Ultra UV Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF50+. Each night I use the Ultra Clear Foaming Cleanser and Ultra Hydrating Lotion. Cleanse and moisturise – simple!
Finally, I introduced my Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum, which I would use after my Ultra Clear Foaming Cleanser every third night. The product has a distinct smell but I find it calming so I enjoy putting it on my face just before I head to bed. I then follow up with my Ultra Hydrating Lotion. This step was optional – the Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum is so rich that some people might find the Ultra Hydrating Lotion too much. I didn’t, so I kept up the hydration.
Only two weeks after introducing the Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum, my skin definitely has more elasticity to it. The texture is smooth and the clarity of my skin tone is still improving. The recovering spots from my old breakouts have cleared. I’m not breaking out anymore and my pigmentation is lightening. I’ve noticed my skin is becoming slightly more sensitive to products, but it still feels tough.
I returned for my fourth in-salon treatment where a potent Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum was infused into my skin. Until now, the in-salon treatments I’ve received have had no downtime and are pain-free. The infusion this time was still pain-free but there was some minor downtime. Immediately after the peel my skin felt plump, extremely hydrated but not oily, and a lot tighter. I never went red but over the next two days I had some flakiness and peeling in places. I’d apply some of the Ultra Hydrating Lotion during the day when the dryness and flakiness appeared. After only four days, the flakiness and peeling had disappeared completely.
Again, following the infusion and up until this point, I’d gone back to basics with my take-home products, cleansing and moisturising. After day five, I could reintroduce the Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum each night. On [the odd] occasion, I’d get a tiny pimple or two, but this was from the product ridding my skin of the bacteria and build-up underneath. I found the daily application of the serum started to make my skin peel again, so I backed off and applied it every second night, which works better for me.
I’d been a sceptic about take-home products that could address pigmentation but the vitamin A has helped with my pigmentation and [the] clarity of my skin – it has almost immediately added elasticity to my skin, and made it feel plumper and tighter. I feel like I’ve had a mini face lift! At the eight-week mark the transformation and vibrancy in my skin is close to remarkable – I’m so astonished.

We are at the halfway point in the trial and the results continue to get better each day.
I have two more in-salon treatments left before the trial is over and I’m looking forward to those. The microdermabrasion sessions have helped even out my skin tone and get rid of dead skin cells, which in turn means faster cell renewal.
Along with the micro infusion mask (which also includes my treatment products), this treatment is also performed with Ultrasonophoresis. This technology uses soundwaves to aid the products to penetrate deep down and work efficiently. I haven’t experienced any side effects of this treatment, which is always a huge plus, and I can have it done without any concerns of it making my skin worse.
I’m enjoying using the treatment lotion; it absorbs quickly and works well under make-up. So far this is the hero product for sure and it is what has helped my skin the most. It has significantly reduced my acne and helped clear my skin safely and effectively. I haven’t had any adverse reactions; no dry skin, peeling/flaking or redness. My skin definitely loves Ultraceuticals and they’re getting along really well! I also find it balances oil production and my skin doesn’t get as oily as it did. Although I think all the products working in conjunction with each other helped a lot.
I think the changes in my skin are permanent. In the past I have used products that work, but only when I continue using [them], and my skin would revert back as soon as I stopped [using them]. With Ultraceuticals, the improvement is here to stay even when I don’t consistently use [the products]. During this trial there was about two weeks where I became lazy and wasn’t following my treatment plan as prescribed, but my skin didn’t suffer due to my laziness – it was still acne-free, smooth and even-toned. It didn’t relapse or have any other negative impact.
It’s reassuring to know the results are lasting and the products are working deep down to correct my skin problems. The Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum is great at correcting my hyperpigmentation and acne scarring. It feels great on the skin – not heavy but emollient so I don’t need extra products for hydration.
My skin continues to improve in its texture and tone. I’ve noticed that I get a lot less breakouts, less often. My pimples are more of a hormonal issue and not an external one. Obviously no product applied to the skin can change hormonal breakouts. My acne scars have lightened and my complexion is more even-toned. My pores are tighter and less visible.
Overall, the results so far are amazing and my face feels smooth and soft and looks healthy. This is the best my skin has looked and felt in years!

Pink_Sugar, I'm so pleased that you are continuing with Ultraceuticals!
And interesting to note that even when you became a bit 'lazy' for 2 weeks, your skin did not suffer (I think I might know when that was!) and I hope you have continued right to the finish line ...... and beyond!
Look forward to reading your last review and can't wait for the photos of everyone including my own!

I wonder what that distinct smell is! Certain scents can be a little distracting.

If Shanae375 is referring to the aroma (I call it aroma, not a smell, as aroma conjures up nice images!) of the Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum (or she could be meaning the Ultra Clear Foaming Cleanser, which I don't have)
I too am using the Ultra A Skin Perfecting Serum in the evening and would liken the aroma to be like oatmeal - she does day that she "finds it calming so I enjoy putting it on my face just before I head to bed" so that sounds to be a positive aroma/smell to me!

Red spots left after acne a definitely a concern for me. I also get acid peels on occasion, but I get glycolic acid peels, and they do help with these types of old acne scarring.

Would love to see more honest short bottom line reviews with no filter/photoshop photos (partial so their identity can stay private) on the same light, no makeup

So glad to see the treatment and products working for both girls. Acne is traumatic for the skin and it looks like the Ultraceutical products are working to keep them at bay.
Also good to read about your progress pink_sugar. I'm glad you stuck around for this challenge.

I struggle with breakouts too, I had a facial about a month ago and they used Ultraceuticals products and my face felt fantastic after that one treatment. I've been trying to justify buying the products (they're a bit more expensive than i can afford right now) and these ongoing reviews have really helped me decide to go for it!

I would never have justified spending the money on these skin care products but after being on this trial (I'm under the Fine Lines) I CAN justify the cost and I am continuing with these products and have already purchased products to continue.
When you get to 55 and find a product where you can see the results (especially with their photo imager - it doesn't lie!) you are more inclined to stick with it!
Unfortunately the in-salon treatments I cannot justify at the moment but if the home products are 70% I will have to forgo the other 30%, for now.
