Discover the right way to pop a pimple

Do you struggle to leave your blemishes be? You’re not alone. According to Dr Mehmet Oz, up to one in five of us are obsessed with picking pimples – but the majority of us go about it totally the wrong way.
So the 54-year-old cardiothoracic surgeon and US television personality went on The Oprah Winfrey Show to set the record straight. According to the doctor, ‘squeezing’ a pimple – aka pressing the healthy skin around the spot – actually damages it. Using a fairly revolting-looking giant blemish as a prop, he then showed the best – and least painful – way to attack blemishes.
Here are the steps:
Step 1: Use a needle that has been cleaned with alcohol (not your dirty fingers).
Step 2: Don’t jab it into the front of the blemish (as that will hurt). Instead, place the needle parallel to the skin – “rather like you would skewer something” – and pierce the skin from one side to another.
Step 3: Rip upwards, taking care to only hit the white part of the pimple, “because that bit is already dead”.
According to Dr Oz, using this parallel technique will prevent damage to the surrounding, healthy skin, resulting in less soreness and redness post-pop as well as reduced scarring.
The final step? Helping to prevent new pimples from sprouting in the first place!
Would you use this new-and-improved pimple popping technique? What other tips do you have for getting rid of acne?

Ah, Dr Mehmet Oz, the guy who was told by a US Senate subcommittee to quit making unfounded claims about "miracle" dietary supplements—because he is feeding a sordid, under-regulated industry and a misguided culture of shortcuts. Yeah, don't think I'll give this guy's health advice much weight, thanks.

This isn't a new technic, I killed some pimples like this years ago when I was a teenager - and if the pimple was big enough and close enough to the surface - yes, it did work.

I leave pimples alone these days UNLESS they have a white head. This technique is very successful with those type and it doesn't hurt as it goes through the crusty head ( sorry for the visual descriptive there). I follow up with some Isocol.

I've been googling the right way to pop a pimple for ages and haven't had very great results, nice to see something helpful! But I wouldn't try this method though, I can't stand even the thought of using a pin.

I love the Dr Oz show and I did see this technique but I haven't tried it. I'm too afraid to use a need on my face.

I don't pop pimples. It will eventually clear up on its own.

Wow! Never popped a pimple, but they often accidentally pop when I'm washing my face. I think?? I'm pretty clueless when it comes to this subject!

I have heard of this before. I try to leave them alone unless they're huge in which case I don't really care how I do it, as long as it's gone.

Drinking heaps & HEAPS of water and also dotting the spots with Savlon and being determined not to touch your face really helps a lot!
