Are you accidentally ruining your skin?

When it comes to getting gorgeous glossy locks every day, while loading your hair with products is a sure-fire way to nail it, the reality is even your favourite, Holy Grail hair products could be causing some of your skin issues without you even realising it #ScaryBeautyFacts.

Here are some of the signs you’re accidentally ruining your skin causing breakouts, clogged pores and dryness, and the tricks to getting great hair and even better skin, too!

The problem: Pimples
The possible culprit: Hair pastes and pomades

If thick pastes and pomades make contact with your skin, they can get trapped in your pores resulting in blackheads, whiteheads and breakouts. Yikes! Try to avoid using these products close to your hairline so they don’t make their way onto your skin and trap themselves in your pores. Also, make sure you wash your hands immediately after using the product to avoid transferring it onto your skin if you happen to touch your face.

The problem: Clogged pores and breakouts on your forehead
The possible culprit: A greasy fringe

While it’s totally acceptable to neglect washing your greasy fringe for a few days, problems can rain on your #LazyGirl parade when your oily bangs leave your forehead bumpy and breaking out. Oh, and it might not only be grease that’s causing these skin issues – the hair products that you used when styling your fringe will have built up on your strands and could be making contact with your mug, too.

The solution? Make sure you wash your mane at the first sign of grease, or take the easy route by pinning back your fringe or giving it a quick wash over the sink.

The problem: Dry, flaky skin
The possible culprit: Overwashing

If you wash your hair every single day and suffer from dry, flaky and dehydrated skin, overwashing might be to blame. Shampoo works by cleansing your hair and scalp of oils, dirt and any product build-up, and if your shampoo comes in contact with your skin every day – and you’ve already used a cleanser on your skin – your complexion can become zapped of moisture, leaving it dry and flaky. It might be time to ditch your daily hair washing routine, and instead stretch it out to every two or even three days. Also, make sure when you rinse shampoo out of your locks, you tip your head back to avoid the suds making contact with your face.
