Are you accidentally ruining your skin?

When it comes to getting gorgeous glossy locks every day, while loading your hair with products is a sure-fire way to nail it, the reality is even your favourite, Holy Grail hair products could be causing some of your skin issues without you even realising it #ScaryBeautyFacts.
Here are some of the signs you’re accidentally ruining your skin causing breakouts, clogged pores and dryness, and the tricks to getting great hair and even better skin, too!
The problem: Pimples
The possible culprit: Hair pastes and pomades
If thick pastes and pomades make contact with your skin, they can get trapped in your pores resulting in blackheads, whiteheads and breakouts. Yikes! Try to avoid using these products close to your hairline so they don’t make their way onto your skin and trap themselves in your pores. Also, make sure you wash your hands immediately after using the product to avoid transferring it onto your skin if you happen to touch your face.

The problem: Clogged pores and breakouts on your forehead
The possible culprit: A greasy fringe
While it's totally acceptable to neglect washing your greasy fringe for a few days, problems can rain on your #LazyGirl parade when your oily bangs leave your forehead bumpy and breaking out. Oh, and it might not only be grease that’s causing these skin issues - the hair products that you used when styling your fringe will have built up on your strands and could be making contact with your mug, too.
The solution? Make sure you wash your mane at the first sign of grease, or take the easy route by pinning back your fringe or giving it a quick wash over the sink.

The problem: Dry, flaky skin
The possible culprit: Overwashing
If you wash your hair every single day and suffer from dry, flaky and dehydrated skin, overwashing might be to blame. Shampoo works by cleansing your hair and scalp of oils, dirt and any product build-up, and if your shampoo comes in contact with your skin every day - and you’ve already used a cleanser on your skin - your complexion can become zapped of moisture, leaving it dry and flaky. It might be time to ditch your daily hair washing routine, and instead stretch it out to every two or even three days. Also, make sure when you rinse shampoo out of your locks, you tip your head back to avoid the suds making contact with your face.
Are you getting unexplained breakouts or blackheads? Do you treat your skin with extra care when you use hair products?

I've always been a little suspicious that some of my forehead breakouts were from hair product, suspicion validated!

I have dry skin but I don't wash my hair every single day. I don't think my skin was this dry when I was in my teens, as I know, I was never into moisturising my skin every single day but I guess with age it has become very dry and now I have to moistuirse my skin everyday.

I actually have more issues with my scalp then I do with my face so finding the right shampoo and haircare can be an issue more then dealing with skincare issues.

I think that hair oils full of silicones make me break out around my neck (neckne?) and collar bone. I try not to let my hair touch my face.

Make sure you change your pillow case very regularly, if you have breakouts. Any more than a couple of days wear, can clog your pores even more.

Hmm, over washing may be the cause of my dry skin. Or it could be winter..or I could be getting older. Who knows. :-P

My skin is dry at the moment but it's not from that reason, mine is because when I have break outs then it gets dry when the area is healing, sucks :(

I've had the occasional case of over exfoliation.

Having both dry hair and dry skin I am always looking at ways to combat them both and thanks BH I never knew that washing my hair every day was bad for my skin ? I will try washing every other day from now on and see if that helps. See never mind how old you are you can still learn something new.

I am very conscious of keeping my hair off my face so as not to irritate my skin.

I only put hair oil from the ends up. I used to be addicted to exfoliation and that wasn't good. Luckily the damage was not permenant.

I do get an occasional random blackhead on my cheeks even though I'm pretty diligent with my skincare.

My skin is dry but its not because i overwash my hair - it seems to be genetic in my case as ive suffered from it all my life even when i was a child. It really sucks
