5 ways to include tea in your beauty regime

Morning, night and any time in between, a cup of tea is always the perfect pick-me-up. However, tea isn’t only good for the soul, but for your face, body and hair too! It’s full of vitamins and antioxidants that can do great things for your whole body, you just need to know how to use it.

Here are five cheap and easy ways to incorporate tea into your beauty regime for all-over body indulgence.

Black tea eye mask

If your eyes are looking tired and puffy, infuse two regular black tea bags (we like Dilmah English Breakfast, $4.82, onlineshop.dilmah.com.au/) in boiling water. After a few minutes, remove the teabags and let cool. You could even place them in the fridge for an extra kick of ‘cool’. Place a tea bag over each eye, lie back and relax. The tannic acid in tea will shrink any puffiness or inflammation in the eye area. You’ll notice a difference within minutes! Tea steam

A tea steam is a great way to remove toxins from your skin. Boil a few cups of water, pour into a large bowl, and add in a tea bag (or two!) of your choice. Green tea will give your skin a hit of antioxidants, whereas camomile tea will help to soothe. Place your head over the bowl, cover with a towel and relax for five to 10 minutes.

Green tea face mask

Green tea is often considered a super food due to its high antioxidant count, and those antioxidants are just as beneficial for your skin as they are for your insides. For a mask that will leave your skin glowing, take your favourite cleanser, pour into a bowl and mix it with freshly brewed green tea. Apply the mask to your face, leave it on for at least five minutes, and wash off with warm water. Alternatively, you could use Montagne Jeunesse Green Tea Peel Off Masque, which combines young green tea with root ginger, soothing aloe vera and lemon to remove toxins, cleanse and revive.

Body scrub

For an all-natural body scrub, combine 1 cup of sea salt, ½ cup of extra virgin olive oil, ¼ cup (around three tea bags’ worth) of Dilmah Ceylon tea, $4.82, onlineshop.dilmah.com.au/, and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract in a bowl. Apply the mix to your body, concentrating on elbows, knees and ankles. Leave for a couple of minutes before washing off to reveal super smooth skin. If you don’t have the time to make a scrub yourself, you can use St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Scrub.

Fruit-tea hair mask

Swap your regular conditioner for a tea mask and your hair will be shinier than ever before. After shampooing your hair, rinse your hair with a cup or two of freshly brewed tea. We recommend using Pukka Elderberry and Echinacea Tea with Elderflower ($7.95, pukkaherbs.com.au), for a mix of licorice root, orange peel, rosehip berry and peppermint leaf that will leave your hair shining, and smelling amazing (it also tastes great!).
