From quirky hairdos to one classically elegant make-up look, today we’re celebrating those who weren’t afraid to take a little red carpet risk, as well as those who knew that classic glamour always works…
BAFTA AWARDS BEAUTY TREND #1: brushed-back hair.
AS SEEN ON: Alicia Vikander and Jennifer Lawrence.
You’ll either love this ‘do or dislike it with a passion, but either way, these stunners definitely pull off this wet-roots-and-dry-ends hairstyle. This may have something to do with their beautiful faces, though, because this hairstyle has the wonderful ability of drawing attention to the eyes and lips. Will you try it? Maybe not, but it’s most certainly a refreshing ruby rug ‘do. Oh, and all hairstyle talk aside, I must point out Jennifer Lawrence’s divine smoky eye as well. It looks absolutely outstanding next to her immaculate skin and nude lips. Well done, Jen.
BAFTA AWARDS BEAUTY TREND #2: bright, bold lips.
AS SEEN ON: Laura Whitmore and Marion Cotillard.
Sexy, classy and superbly glamorous, a colourful pout is the epitome of a classic red carpet look. And I love it. Both ladies teamed their bold lips with subtle eye make-up – Laura went for black liquid eyeliner; Marion opted for a taupe smoky eye – for a strikingly fresh finish. Some may call it boring, but in my books, classic glamour is never boring.
BAFTA AWARDS BEAUTY TREND #3: outrageous hair.
AS SEEN ON: Helen Mirren and Paloma Faith.
Oh, Helen. You truly are a legend. Baby pink hair at 67? No one could pull off a look such as this with as much sass as you, my dear. And while you won’t spot us sporting Paloma’s twisted intricate updo any time soon, props must be given for her creativity and use of that striking diamanté hairpiece.
Who deserves the gong for best BAFTAs red carpet beauty? Will you be recreating any of these looks? And what do you think of Helen Mirren’s pink hair?
