The NYX Suede Matte Lipsticks have matte black cases and they have a pleasant vanilla scent. The lids snap shut but they sometimes fall off if I have them in my makeup bag.
Unlike traditional matte lipsticks with a dry texture, the Suede Matte Lipsticks have a lightweight, smooth and slippery formula. They are easy to apply and they do not pull on my lips during application.
I bought two shades which I have really enjoyed wearing. The first shade is a dusty rose called Lavender and Lace which is similar to the NYX Lip Lingerie in Embellishment. It is also similar to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick in Dead Roses. I wouldn’t call them dupes because they have different formulas and textures.
The second shade is a pastel lavender with a grey undertone called Violet Smoke. I love Violet Smoke more than Lavender and Lace because it has a cooler undertone that works well with my complexion. Budget lipsticks in lighter shades often do not show up well on my lips, but the Suede Matte Lipsticks have good colour payoff.
Longevity for the lipsticks is average if I do not eat or drink. The lipsticks transfer to drinking glasses and some of the colour disappears after a small snack.
I was concerned that the lipsticks would fall apart due to their moisturising formula and because the bullets are slightly loose. I have had the lipsticks for a few months and they have remained intact.
