I've heard about the NYX HD Studio finishing powder as a dupe to Makeup Forever's Ultra HD and MAC's finishing powder and selling for a fraction of the price, so what's not a reason to try it out!
NYX HD Studio comes in a plastic jar of 6 grams slightly less than Make up Forever's 8.5g ($61) and MAC 8g ($44), although I have not tried them so I cannot compare the performance besides price value.
The NYX HD Studio comes in a very finely milled white loose powder that does not feel gritty or powdery when applied. The white powder should not scare people as it does not disrupt the shade or colour of your complexion, what it offers is like a setting powder giving you the ultimate airbrush finish!
This is my third jar I've used so I have experimented in the best method to apply the product as it can get quite messy and loose powder application varies.
I found using a powder brush and sponge such as a beautyblender works best. I dip the brush into the powder and tap the excess onto the lid which I will use again if needed and do the same tapping steps. I gently pat onto the t-zone, area of bridge of nose and corner of the eyes, chin and corner of my mouth, I then use the brush again and gently sweep and press the powder until I remove any excess off my face.
As for the sponge, I tip a bit of powder onto the lid then use the sponge to collect the powder on it then dab the sponge onto the areas. I continue to do this until the powder is evenly spread and then use the powder brush to sweep off the excess.
Both techniques gave me that airbrush finish, that helps set my makeup and keep my foundation and concealer in place. It's neither a matte finish or too much of a dewy finish, it sets my makeup that seems to amplify the lumosity of my makeup! If that makes sense! The powder completes my makeup look for the day and I can never skip a make up day without using it!
However, it does not make my makeup lasts the mile, just maybe an extra few hours. But I just love the finish that I still gave it a 5/5 star rating!
I found that one jar lasts me for 6-7 months which is such a great value for money, not only that but it really lived up to its claims and it has certainly been a repurchase product for me! 0
