I had been wanting to buy Nad's Natural Sugar Wax after reading about the product on the Internet but unfortunately could not find it sold anywhere in the Perth stores. So imagine my delight when Beauty Heaven had it listed in May's Beautorium :).
This product comes in a 370ml white plastic tub with a yellow plastic screw top lid. It is sold in a box which includes 6 wooden applicators, 10 re-useable cotton strips and a small square of naturally derived pre-wax cleansing soap.
The sugar wax looks like honey and smells very sweet. It has a consistency of thick toffee which is just about to set. Today being 18C, I really should have warmed the jar in a bowl to make the wax easier to pick up on the applicator but I still managed to get some of the wax onto it despite its thick nature and apply it to my skin.
The pre-wax cleansing soap is white and has a lovely fragrance of Lavender. As instructed, I used this to cleansed my skin, then dried the area with a towel before applying the wax. I did note that the cardboard box that contains the soap is plastic coated so the soap can still be returned to it even if the soap is wet from use.
The cotton strips are fairly long and wide and made of 100% tight woven cotton which can be washed and reused quite a number of times. The strips have raw edges so during use, a bit of fraying of the material occurs.
The wooden applicators have the appearance of wooden tongue depressors that doctors use when they want to look down your throat.
I found the application of the wax fairly easy as the product sticks to the skin well. Upon applying a cotton strip over the product, pressing down to smoothen and then removing against the direction of the hair growth, I found that most of my hairs were removed. The only ones remaining were hairs that were shorter than 3mm long. I was able to use the same strip with the same amount of wax on it, over and over again on different areas of my skin. Each time the wax was able to remove more hairs until the amount of wax on the strip was too little to be effective.
I like this product a lot and I find it good value. I notice that the removal of the sugar wax strip is also so much gentler on my skin than ordinary wax strips that need to be warmed between the hands prior to application. Admittedly, the latter is more effective at removing all the hair in one go whereas the former may take more than one go in the same area to remove all the hairs.
However, the Nad's Natural Sugar Wax Kit comes up top in comparison to tub wax kits that require heating because I find the latter too difficult to use and messy. I have never been able to get normal waxes at the correct temperature for application and I'm not fond of waxes that need an oil to remove the residue.
I will definitely purchase Nad's Natural Sugar Wax again because of its "No heat" requirement, gentleness, effectiveness, simplicity of use and cleanup. For the price compared to other Brands of tub wax, I find it very reasonable.
Thank you, Beauty Heaven, for having this product in May's Beautorium !!!
