I bought Maybelline Face Studio Master Conceal because it has received mostly positive reviews and I liked the look of its packaging. The concealer is housed in a tube with a nozzle that makes it easy to dispense the required amount. I bought the shade called Fair. This shade was not the best colour match, but I was able to make it work for me. The concealer has a light consistency and an almost neutral scent.
When I first started using the concealer, I tested its concealing ability on bare skin. I applied the concealer on small freckles or pigmentation spots. When I blended the concealer out, I could still see the freckles. The result looked a bit cakey, but this could be because I have dry skin.
I then used the concealer over a liquid foundation that wasn’t giving me the coverage that I prefer. I applied the concealer under my eyes, but it made the area look patchy and cakey. I tried the concealer on a minor blemish on my chin from a skin reaction, but when I blended the concealer out, it did not provide much coverage.
Seeing as I didn’t have much luck with the concealer for its intended purpose, I tried it as an eyeshadow primer. This did not work because it made eyeshadows harder to blend and they wore away faster than usual.
I am not sure why I could not get the product to work. The concealer gave better coverage when I tested it on the back of my hand where my skin is firmer. It is possible that the concealer works better on people with younger skin (I’m in my fifties).
