**Initial thoughts on viewing the product:**
This is a very cleverly-shaped bottle. It’s tall, slender and has indentations in the centre, which allows ease of grip with either hand. You’d be surprised at what a difference it makes. Think of it as a bottle having a waist. If your hands are slick with lotion, your hands are less likely to slip. Very clever, Garnier. A taller, slimmer bottle also allows for ease of storage, which for any consumer who loves their products in their bathroom cupboard or cabinet, knows is a critical factor. Another clever thought, Garnier. The bottle is a pale, pearlescent green colour (which I actually like) however the back of the bottle is crowded with information. You get 400ml of product, which is a decent amount. The top of the bottle is capped with a white lid with a secure flip top lid, which appears to be rather safe. It clicks into place rather well. Given the key ingredients and the claims, a little should go a very long way. My expectations are high; I am wanting big things from this product.
**Thoughts on application:**
I purchased this lotion while I was out in the tiniest town in the Hunter Valley region for work last year. It was rather warm, and very arid. Given I had only packed so much with me, I decided to take the opportunity to purchase a product I had never used before. Hotel lotion tends to be on the nasty side of life and I needed something that was going to allow my skin to survive the trip!
This lotion really is a lotion. I was expecting something richer in consistency, so I was surprised at how liquid it was. It really ‘rushed’ out of the bottle. The lotion is a very bright ‘cool’ white colour and the scent is consistent with the shea butter content. The scent does linger however I did not find it to be overpowering or annoying (like some other products I have tried and cannot go near again). What I really appreciated on first application is: it goes on easily, it absorbs reasonably quickly (I cannot say it was fast-absorbing but it was decent), my skin did not feel greasy or slick (unless I applied too much), this lotion immediately negated the dry skin itch I was feeling from the air/water in the region.
On the downside, this lotion was no good for hands. It washed off very easily. The claims of this lotion providing hydration for seven days after last use were, in my opinion, a complete fallacy. I used this lotion daily for at least a month straight while I was in the Hunter Valley. I stopped using it when I first got back to Brisbane to test the theory. Quite simply: theory disproved. Plus, I later discovered a very unfriendly ingredient in this bottle!
Ideal for
This is a decent lotion however if you are against products with mineral oil in it, stay away (it’s the third ingredient… I didn’t notice this when I grabbed it). It definitely did the trick for me when I was suffering from dry skin out the back of the boonies, however there are much better products out there that I would rather use (and recommend) in comparison to this one.
I try to not be wasteful and I have stuck it out (and just finished the bottle). That said, I don’t need something to be scented. Yes, I do appreciate clever. However, I want something that works and works well. Do I recommend this? No. Sorry, not sorry.
