I was so excited to try the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm as I've never tried a cleansing balm before. When I opened the box there was an Elemis cleansing cloth wrapped in tissue paper. I did not know this was included and it's very soft and great quality. It adds to the overall experience because using this balm was definitely an experience. Also when lifting the lid on the box it released a lovely lavender scent into the air. The cleansing balm looks like a big tub of lip balm. It's creamy and rich. And boy, does it smell good. It smells like a spa. A burst of citrus, mellowing down to a warm, woody smell of spices. It's a delicious blend that relaxes me immediately. Let's not forget about the texture. Oh my goodness the texture! It almost melts upon contact with the warmth of my skin into a soft oil balm. This makes it easy to spread over my skin and it just feels so comfortable and luxurious. I'm obsessed! It really does awaken my senses. To use the cleansing balm I like to use about half a teaspoon sized amount as a little goes a long way and you smooth it over your dry skin with dry fingers (There is no tugging on the skin it glides on effortlessly). Even when using this as a makeup remover you still apply it without wetting your face first and use dry fingers to massage it in. Once massaged in, I wet my fingers and continued to massage. You'll notice the balm now becomes more of a cleanser with a milky consistency. Then finally as per the instructions you remove the balm using the cleansing cloth that comes in the box. You just moistened it with warm water and wipe the balm off. After I've done this I splash cold water on my face to close my pores and pat my face dry with a towel then follow with the rest of my skincare. The balm doesn't leave any residue or film on my skin and after using this my skin feels so clean, soft and looks glowy. It does remove makeup including mascara. It basically dissolves it. All while nourishing and renewing my skin. The balm also doubles as a mask for an intense nourishing treatment. For this I like to apply a teaspoon sized amount of balm to my face and leave this on for 10 minutes before wiping off. Doing this leaves my skin feeling like new. It feels softer than ever, smooth and hydrated. The fact that I can use this as a mask also really ups the appeal to me. I don't think I could ever not have this product in my life. It really is that good. I was a girl who only liked cleansers that lathered up thinking that if it didn't lather then my face wouldn't be clean. Boy, was I wrong! I truly get the hype. I can't believe how plump my skin felt right after using it. It truly feels like I've just had a shot of collagen released into my skin. One thing to note about the formula is that it contains an array of oils that can be potentially irritating for those with sensitive skin. I absolutely love this product and it has now become my desert island product.
