Our favourite fragrances for winter

In the same way that new knits and boots make the transition to winter a little easier, so too can switching to a new perfume. Embrace the cooler temps with a scent that’s warm, woody and comforting. Here are six fragrances to wrap yourself in this winter…
Narciso Rodriguez NARCISO eau de toilette, 50mL, $109
Available June 1 from Myer and David Jones
Winter and this perfume are the perfect match. With notes of white peony, Bulgarian rose, a heady white floral bouquet and traces of musk, this composition warms the heart. With the addition of black and white cedars, this scent is hypnotising, seductive and mysterious.
Jo Malone Amber & Patchouli Cologne, 100mL, $230
The blend of sensuous patchouli and opulent amber in this fragrance is rich and woody, with a suede-like finish and a spicy bite. Just one sniff of the Jo Malone Amber & Patchouli cologne, and you’ll be transported to a Middle Eastern getaway that’ll take the edge off those frosty mornings.
Marc Jacobs Mod Noir, 50mL, $130
Available from June 18 exclusively at Sephora
As if the quirky bottle wasn’t gorgeous enough, this fragrance combines notes of gardenia with lush, dewy greens, sparkling water and creamy musk. It’s a fusion of simplicity and sophistication, and though the gardenia is intoxicating, the overall scent isn’t overpowering.
Guerlain Shalimar Souffle De Parfum, 50mL, $135
Available from Myer, David Jones and selected Pharmacies
Vanilla is a staple in winter perfumes, and this new scent by Guerlain has more than its fair share. Blending vanillas from India and Tahiti, it has the lighter, more floral notes that are elegant and feminine as well as the darker, woodier overtones that convey a sense of mystery and sensuality. Add mimose, tuberose, vetiver, spices and sambac jasmine, and you’ve got a cascade of creamy white musks that are so ideal for winter.
Vera Wang Embrace Rosebuds & Vanilla EDT 30ml $39
Available from July at Chemist Warehouse
Thanks to its floral blend of rose buds, sweet magnolia, vanilla and sandalwood, this is one for the romantics. It’s a beautifully feminine fragrance that lingers on the skin and is inspired by intimacy and emotion. The warm, finishing touch of this fragrance is like a blanket - spritz away!

Nior de noir by tom ford. Also Mugler's aura. Well, I can wear any, who cares of the season. In this country there are no 4 seasons

Some very delightful sounding fragrances here. I'm not really a perfume sort of person but reading about all these might tempt me to try out some different ones.

The Vera Wng, Marc Jacobs, and Jo Malone sounds amazing. I once sniffed Shalimar ( the original scent) and didnt like it. I wonder if the newer version would smell better?

I find winter fragrances a bit heavy. I tend to wear citrus in summer and floral in winter

Gucci by Gucci & Prada Amber EDP during winter. Narciso Rodrigez EDP any day of the year it's my absolute favourite!!! I'm very excited to try the new guerlain Shalimar, I love the normal one too, so I'm thinking this will be next level:)))
PS I use to have a Guerlain fragrance called Mahora and it was the ULTIMATE winter fragrance, I loved it so much, but then they discontinued it, I still live in hope that I will find a similar fragrance again one day- if anyone knows of any that smell similar definitely leave a comment- please!!!

I'm a complete perfume addict and love the heavier winter fragrances, in particular floral orientals, woods and anything with vanilla! My current favourite is Roberto Cavalli Nero Assoluto - so gorgeous and comes in a black bottle. Other favourites are CK Euphoria, Dior Hypnotic Poison, Dior Addict (vintage formula), Juicy Couture Couture Couture, and Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights!
I could bathe in perfume lol! ❤ xx
